Hi there. My name is Douglas, and I live in the nation's oldest city, St. Augustine, on the Atlantic coast of Florida, with my beautiful soulmate, Sandra.
I have Irish and French blood in me, and true to that nature, I love music and the ocean, and I believe in ghosts.
I recently realized one of my lifelong dreams by obtaining IBIS, a 34' Bristol sloop, which I hope ultimately to sail around the world. For now, I spend weekends aboard her here in the St. Augustine anchorage, sleeping under the stars, the tide swishing against her sturdy hull.
Among other things, I'm a freelance writer. At present, I write primarily for The St. Augustine Record newspaper. You can view some of my newspaper clips here. But what I really want to do is write books. I've been trying to write a novel for years, but have never gotten very far before I completely trash what I've written and start over.
I'm also a musician, and, though we don't get together too often these days, I play in a band called DYNAMITE CHARADE.
I'm trying to write a screenplay at present. Actually, I've got a couple of different screenplays in the works, but one of them, a paranormal mystery set here in St. Augustine, is my primary focus right now.
Perhaps my biggest weakness has always been procrastination. And self doubt. And an inclination to scatter my energies into too many different areas. I need to pick one thing and focus on it. So, for now, it is going to be the aforementioned screenplay.
Years ago, I played in a band in Gainesville called CAMP 7.
I've been writing some new songs, and one of these days I will record them and post them here.

LOSING YOU
Tell me, everything you want
Help me, understand
I know, all about the things you said
I've seen, where you've been
There are times, when I swear I hate myself
There are times, that it's you
You know, I can never get it right
I try, but I fail
Losing you
Now I'm losing my mind
I don't know, what to do
Take my hand
If for just the last time
Keep me close to you
So long, I hope you get just what you need
I know, that you will
Take time, make the most of out of your life
Take flight, 'cause you're free
Take care, 'cause you know I wish you well
Know that, to be true
Our time, I guess it slipped right through our hands
Goodbye, I love you so
Losing you
Now I'm losing my mind
I don't know, what to do
Take my hand
If for just the last time
Keep me close to you
Tell me, everything you feel
Help me, make it right
I know, there's a place within our hearts
I've seen, where it is
There are times, when we tear ourselves apart
There are times, when we cry
You know, I think we can get it right
We just, have to try
I'm losing you
Now I'm losing my mind
I don't know, what to do
Take my hand
If for just the last time
Keep me close to you
