I'm not kidding: I pretty much forgot I HAD a myspace page - one I set up a couple years ago, just to get my feet wet before creating & running the official myspace page for singer/songwriter Josh Ritter. If you've checked this page at all even recently, you would have seen a graphic on the left side that touted "Coming Soon: the 'new' Josh Ritter album The Animal Years!" That album was released two years ago in March 2006. Yes, a little outdated. But I've recently heard from some old friends, fellow music fans, and even folks "back home" here on myspace. So I thought I'd give the page a shot of life, and will *try* to keep it updated...
A brief history, starting with the latest: In the summer of 2007, I left my job as a full time Tennis pro (teaching) at the Jersey shore and moved to San Francisco, to work full time as part of Tough Love Artist Management.
I was born and raised on the Jersey shore, in the great beach town of Manasquan. After graduating Villanova University in '96 where I focused on Film Studies, I began a career in the film industry, working in NYC for years in development/screenplay analysis for - among others - actor Danny Aiello (Do the Right Thing, Monstruck), 20th Century Fox, director Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia), and ultimately Miramax Films.
I left Miramax Films to work on the sets of a couple feature motion pictures, Riding in Cars with Boys and National Security, as the assistant to actor Steve Zahn.
September 11, 2001 sent me home to the shore, where a "break" from NYC and the movie biz led to over 5 years of being Head Tennis Pro at The Atlantic Club. During this time, I began work in the promoting/marketing/managing independent music, and this led to my recent jump across the country.
No, I don't know why I don't smile in my pics.

"Spaceman" by THE KILLERS
[click the Play arrow to listen.]
Comments: The greatest "first half" of an album I heard all year. How's that for a backhanded compliment? But it IS intended as a compliment. Great record by a great band that from album to album is sticking with what they do best, while at the same time evolving and taking risks. Love it.
Josh Ritter and Band Performing "To the Dogs or Whoever" (from the new album).

Also on the bill this evening will be the one and only Mundy.

Merry Christmas Doug. Awesomeness that you're back HOME and can spend it with your family. Blessings during the holidays and into 2009. Health and Peace always, Lisa
Remember when you suggested the Submarines, and "Honeysuckle Weeks"? ....wow, that song was used in the latest iPhone commercial on tv. You have the best set of ears on the planet. You sure know how to call em. I'm beyond impressed haha. Hope things are good with you, I'm working 2 jobs 7 days a week to stay afloat. The economy sure is doing a number on my financial situation. But as always, especially around Thanksgiving time and the approaching holiday season, still grateful for the good things in life. PS - I love your new photo! :)
Doug, when you come to New York, you must see Billy Elliot the Musical, I saw it on the first night of previews, and heard they cut a little of it to improve the run time, but it is extraordinary. I think you'll love it. Hope you're well. :) xo
Bonding over Buddy Holly- that's a great way to start a friendship! Glad you like my tunes, nice comments make it all worthwhile. And tell Josh his UK fans are missing him!
Alright Doug, I saw our boy Josh tonight and he played a brand new track. I got video of it, but I can't make out the title. He played it solo acoustic... though maybe you can help me out.
