Dougs grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, where he saw both the good and bad sides of life. By the age of 6 scolding from his mother had become the norm. The source of Mrs. Douglass grief was her sons constant pencil-breaking during his imitation of the great drummer Sly Dunbar. Armed with his passion for music, Dougs was not deterred by mothers actions. Such perseverance eventually paid off. While attending Hillel Academy High School (Jamaica) he began to receive a lot of praise from fellow students who loved to hear him deejay (chat, rhyme). Dougs was picking up these styles from the sound systems who strung up from Maiden Street to the corner of Dun Kirk, where his grandmother resided.
At the age of 17 he met Daniel, Micah and Stephen McGregor- the sons of great reggae singer Freddie McGregor. They immediately began producing songs for him and, partner at the time, GQ. But lack of experience and maturity deadened the young duos chances at success. All in all, things did not work out as well as they had anticipated.
Dougs continued in his academic pursuit, but continued to hold on to his passion-music. He moved to New York in January 2000 to attend The City University of New York where he completed a 2-year program in audio engineering. He also started working with well known Hip Hop producer Deggie Bell, who passed away just 4 months after the two met. Dougs was faced with a very hard period in his life, he had lost his friend, and also, his only opportunity to record. The confusion, however, was short-lived. He soon met up with childhood friend Alvin Palmer. The two started a company called Creative Noize Productions, and began to purchase studio equipment and record in Dougss basement apartment.
He partnered up with his father in 2002 to produce a song for Elephant Man, and at the same time wrote a song for vintage Reggae artist Wayne Wade. Dougs is now working on his project along with upcoming acts such as Infamous Regilata, and well known Jamaican dancer Bruck Up.
