Band MembersPete Lyerly and Steve Evans

Instead of merely imitating the latest trends for commercial appeal, Downfall creates the kind of metal they want to hear, while scrapping the idea of a traditional metal image altogether. Downfall has a very rhythmic, yet intensely chaotic sound, which is incapable of direct comparison. What Pete and Steve create is inspired by a variety of genres, and this appreciation of multiple styles plays a big part in many aspects of their sound. Focusing more on the quality of their work, and the genuineness of their music, Downfall believes that the music should always speak for itself, and theirs truly speaks volumes.

Formed in 2005, somewhere in College Park, Maryland, guitarist Peter Lyerly and Steve Evans met at a Halloween party and found a common interest in playing metal. The duo began writing songs, and not long after, decided to enter the studio to record a demo. They then hired Aaron Page and Alex Osipowicz to perform with them on the recording.

In the winter of 2006, Downfall produced and released their first recording “Luctor et Emergo”, with local area producer Keny Ruyter. In 2007, after completion of their EP, the duo, along with Aaron and Alex, began playing local shows, and found themselves becoming well received by their audience. The band quickly gained popularity, and started opening shows in the area for national acts like God Forbid, Napalm Death, Dying Fetus, and Nile.

One year later, Downfall returned to the studio with Aaron and Alex, along side with Keny Ruyter to record their debut full-length album “By Any Means”. During the one year production, the band continued to play shows around the area to help support the release of the album. Their popularity continued to grow, as they soon found themselves performing with some of the top national acts of the day like Nile, God Forbid, and Dying Fetus. At the height of 2009, just after the completion of By Any Means, Aaron and Alex stepped down as Downfall’s touring musicians in pursuit of their own individual musical projects.

In May of 2009 By Any Means was released, meanwhile Pete and Steve go back into the studio to begin writing material for their second album, while simultaneously promoting and distributing their music around the United States.
