After a promising demo filled with echoes of The Fall, and their much talked about stage debut in the Festival of Bars en Trans 2008 (Rennes/ France)…with their front man, like an inspired Mark E. Smith and his skilful song writing, the french four piece Downtown Cuckoo release their debut album in March 2009, on Limbo Records.
The 10 tracks successfully blend post -punk references with sixties garage influences and electro curiosities.
Rhythmically omnipresent, their firing and creative drums , along with the rebellious leading basslines, underscore a guitar sound that cuts through then soars, weaving together the band’s powerful melodic patterns.
With vocals that, whether impatient or in control, seem to know no constraint; the album reveals a group of amazing maturity with high standards of song writing.
