Nicholas moonlighted as bestselling romance author Marsena Shane from 1988-1990 for University Books/Carol Publishing/Critic's Choice Paperbacks/a few others...his reason was he needed the extra cash...his publisher insisted a woman's name would sell better....he did self help books and even a Nancy Reagan bio (a work-for-hire that really sucked but paid the rent for a few months)....
HORROR AUTHORS! If you have a published work of book-length fiction, send it to Nick and he'll review it on the official website, or submit a short story or poetry and get some free promotional assistance.....he's notorious for that, and for genuinely giving a listen to up-and-coming authors, so send a message and ask!

"Grabowsky's writing is at times touching and emotional, however, his real talent is his ability to infuse his writing with a sense of dread and loathing that I have not experienced since H.P. Lovecraft....." ---Tahoe Daily Tribune
I am a delusionalist; I’ve been delusional since as far back as I can remember, around 1968 when I was just a tike and Captain Kangaroo was in black and white. In kindergarten, I convinced myself that I was a vampire, ran around at recess flapping my jacket around the playground like I was flying. My kindergarten teacher warned my mom that I was always after the girls. I would bite them on the arms. Around the third grade, I started writing stories, belting out church hymns at the top of my lungs on the playground swinging on the swings without an ounce of care, while in the next instant breaking a playmate’s arm for not believing that I was a vampire. Later in life, I was a Penticostal preacher, so to speak, and I tried to be a rock star at several points. I directed choirs, played in piano bars. My sister’s abduction and death ironically rescued me from a cluster of downward druggie years, but immersed me in karaoke hell for awhile. I love gardening. I used to sneak out of my parent’s house regularly when I was twelve to streak naked through parks at one in the morning when the automatic sprinklers turned on and I could run through them. I made it a monthly ritual growing up that I pretended my house was a grocery store and I made my family shop through it. I was a camp counselor, a religious counselor, a phone room sales manager, a college actor, a youth mentor, lived in a car, and currently live and run my publishing company, Black Bed Sheet Books, out of the Sacramento, CA area, making a living as a horror novelist, something I’ve been doing professionally for a couple of dozen years now with a few ups and downs but a good fan base around the world, something I’ll always be greatful for. I mean, no matter what I’ve done, I’ve always been a writer, through and through, since the day I became literate, and I’ve always had an audience of readers who really dig what I write, as dark and disturbing or fantastical as it’s always been. That’s been my life-long delusion, though it’s always seemed pretty real to me, and I’ll keep writing for others to read until the day I die. NOW LET ME HEAR FROM YOU ALL A HEARTY "AMEN" TO THAT!
HERE'S A GENERAL AUTHOR BIO FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO GET TO THE POINT: Nicholas Grabowsky’s novels of horror/fantasy and mainstream pulp fiction, both as himself, as Nicholas Randers, and as Marsena Shane, have generated worldwide acclaim for over two decades and praised by many of today’s most popular horror gurus as well as a multitude of writers outside the genre in the literary world. He began his career in traditional publishing houses with brisk sellers in mass market paperback horror and romance, and the last ten years have seen him hailed by many as a mentor and advocate to the smaller presses, which has become to him a passion.
His body of work includes the award-winning macabre aliens-among-us epic The Everborn, The Rag Man, Pray Serpent’s Prey, Halloween IV (and its special edition), Diverse Tales, Reads & Reviews, The Wicked Haze, Sweet Dreams Lady Moon, and June Park, numerous anthologies, magazine articles, and self help books, with projects extending to screenplays, poetry, songs, film, and a wide variety of short fiction and nonfiction since the 1980’s.
He’s a veteran special guest at numerous genre conventions and makes appearances and signings across North America. He has been in the limelight as a radical gospel preacher right out of high school and in the following years a rock vocalist, teacher, lecturer and activist, editor, publisher and founder of the Sacramento-based Diverse Media small press, which has recently blossomed into the subdivisions of Black Bed Sheet Press, which publishes local talent, and Black Bed Sheet Productions, which produces independent film.
Currently, Nicholas is at work with numerous anthologies, graphic novels and comic books, an Everborn sequel and the novels The Downwardens and The Sirens of Knowland. His independent film projects include the upcoming slasher creature feature Cutting Edges, as well as co-writing the independent film Into the Basement, for Triad Pictures.
Anyone who writes and is interested in the kind of stuff I write, and pretty much anyone like-minded.....musicians, publishers, film makers, particularly those of a dark nature, but everyone's welcome! I'm also a strong advocate and mentor to many talented writers, publishers and editors associated with independent presses and publications. All I read lately is predominantly from small press, and most of the best genre talent out there are the ones still struggling to make it!
In October 2008, I set into motion what it takes to establish a bona-fide publishing company out of my garage and two other offices inside my home. If this venture proves to be an extremely successful one, I’ll still be operating out of my garage and home, but perhaps in larger ones. Even if it doesn’t go that far, I’ve submerged a great many years of my life into not only the art of writing as a profession, fiction as well as non, but into the entire process of taking something creative from typed manuscripts to computer documents to something scribbled on grocery store paper bags or napkins, packaging them into a bookstore-quality products and presenting them to the world…..my own works, as well as works of others, since 2002 under the name of Diverse Media. Now, I’ve decided that the time has come to take my publishing pursuits to the next level and to establish Black Bed Sheet Books as a credible, reputable, and successful publishing venture. Since my reputation and focus is built upon the genre of horror literature, that is what BBS specializes in. I will not limit myself nor BBS to this genre, and all avenues are open, hence the byline “fine publishers of exemplary literature, fiction and non.”
In the past, I’ve invested my writing career into publishers and agents that fell short of even minimal expectations. As a result, I’ve become fiercely independent. I’ve been working for myself and as a result brought myself farther into my career than any third party has taken me, and I have the will and means to do the same for my authors.
My objective is to be the ideal publisher I as a writer always wanted to have, and I intend to carry out that mission to the fullest. I will personally work with each one of my authors to meet the highest quality publishing standards, and release each title to the broadest marketing and selling potential utilizing all the tools and resources available to me.
---Nicholas Grabowsky

I am not my scars I know you see my pains reflection through the window of my eye Every let down, misconception, every hurt, and every lie. I try to cover up, yet my nakedness still shows, You see me, in my truest form, I am vulnerable and exposed. Sometimes the phantom of my past appears, though I try to forget Even when I hide it in the darkness, I still see its silhouette. So why do I regret…? These events are the fabric of who I’ve come to be Every instance like a fiber woven in my life’s tapestry. I can only look back for wisdom, I must let this be my strength But even I have yet to discover the true extent of its length. I have only gone so deep, on the surface it hurts so much When I feel my ugliness visible, I just want to cover up. But these memories, the pain from my past, and what I see… This is only an illusion, not the definition of me. I am not my downfalls, and I am not my mistakes, Yet when they look at me, this is all they seem to take. But look at ME, look into my soul… Look at who I really am, not the scars that clearly show. I have to remind myself who I am every day, Because everyone and everything tries to lead my mind astray. They want me to believe I am who they see me to be… They try to show me what I’ve overcome as if it’s still me. Will I live up to be the conceptions as they have made Or will I make my own path, let the past lie where it may See, I am not my scars, my scars are just the proof That I have healed from my afflictions, and I have made it through. -Fiyah Shoot ur email addy over to get on my mailing list! have a great day! =)
