DO YOU MIND (DYM) war von 2003 bis 2005 ein Solo-Projekt von David Sestendrup und verwandelte sich Anfang 2005 in eine komplette Band. DYM, das sind David Sestendrup (Gesang, Gitarre), Jürgen Sestendrup (Bass, Gesang), Ralph Bittner (Gitarre, Gesang) und Johannes Tennagels (Schlagzeug).
Sie spielen poppigen Punk (Pop-Punk), amerikanisch beeinflusst von Bands wie Blink 182, Simple Plan, Sum 41 oder Good Charlotte.
Der erste Erfolg wartete nicht lange: Schon im Herbst 2005 stürmte DYM an die Spitze der Internetcharts. Sowohl bei „myownmusic.de“, als auch bei „Track4.de“ konnten sie sich gegen mehrere Hundert Bands durchsetzen und belegten wochenlang 1.
Auch über die Zusage von "Eins Live“ (Deutschlands populärstem Radiosender) durfte sich die Band freuen. Im April 2005 wurde DYM in der Sendung "Heimatkult“ vorgestellt und das Lied "we have much to learn“ den Hörern präsentiert. (Zitate Manuel Unger, Radiomoderator: "..unglaublich geile treibende Stücke..“; "..so stellt man sich sonnige Punk-Rock Songs im Frühling vor..“)
Bei einem in Nordrhein-Westfalen ausgeschriebenen Newcomer-Wettbewerb stellte die Band ihr können erneut unter Beweis und gewann einen Auftritt mit Revolverheld auf dem "Rock am Bad Festival 2006“. Im November folgte das nächste Highlight als Support-Act der Gruppe Silbermond in der Halle Münsterland (Münster) vor 5000 Zuschauern. Bei einem Online-Voting wurden sie unter die besten 5 Bands gewählt, und anschließend suchten sich Silbermond persönlich DYM als ihre Gewinnerband aus.
2007 geht es für die Band erfolgreich weiter. Für das Münsteraner Hafenfest setzte sich DYM erneut gegen mehrere Nachwuchsbands durch und erhielt einen Auftritt. Bei einem Wettbewerb der Jugendzeitschrift "Bravo" zusammen mit dem Handyhersteller „Nokia“ wurden sie unter die besten 10 Newcomer-Bands Deutschlands gewählt. Im Sommer 2007 durfte DYM dann sogar auf dem "Hurricane-Festival 2007" spielen. Hierzu qualifizierten sie sich bei der "Coca-Cola Soundwave Discovery Tour 2007", wo sie eine der 10 Gewinnerbands waren. Diese 10 Bands durften anschließend am Tag der deutschen Einheit zusammen mit Bands wie Fanta 4, Sportfreunde Stiller, Silbermond oder auch Juli die große Bühne vor dem Brandenburger Tor in Berlin rocken.
Auch bei der Coca-Cola Weihnachtstour 2007 war Do You Mind mit von der Partie. Mit folgenden Worten begründete die Jury ihre Wahl für DYM: “Gute Hooklines, perfektes Zusammenspiel - die Einheit und der Spaß der Gruppe am Spielen und Abrocken ist bei jedem Lied spürbar. Eine perfekte Band für die Coca-Cola-Christmas-Tour.“
Nach einem unvergesslichen Jahr 2007, haben sich die Jungs ein neues Ziel gesteckt. Die Arbeit am zweiten Album "Four Of A Kind" begannen im Frühling 2008. Hierbei war es den Vieren wichtig weiterhin auf eigenen Füßen zu stehen und so wurden alle Songs selbst geschrieben, aufgenommen und auf CD gebracht. Im Dezember 2008 hielten sie ihr neues Album in den Händen, und so bereiten sie sich auf ein spannendes neues Jahr 2009 vor - mehr Shows und mehr Music für euch alle. Danke für euren Support!

Finally, we managed to provide you, our international fans and friends, with some info of our band history in English:
From 2003 to 2005 the German band "Do You Mind" (DYM) actually hasn..t been a band at all, but a solo-project of David Sestendrup. In summer 2005, however, due to the demand of his friends and family to start a band and perform his songs on stage, the band consisting of David Sestendrup (voc/git), Jürgen Sestendrup (bass/voc), Ralph Bittner (git/voc) and Johannes Tennagels (drums) has been founded. Since then, they are on the road to bring the positive feeling their music incorporates out to the people.
"Pop punk" is a mix of pop and american punk rock associated with bands like Blink 182, Simple Plan, Sum 41 or Good Charlotte as well as sunny Southern California, party at the beach and kick ass punk rock shows.
In March 2005 David uploaded two of his songs to www.myownmusic.de, a place to rate other people..s songs. One week later, the songs "Tonight" and "Forever 18" were rated number one and two of 190 chart entries! DYM also placed first in the Punk-Artist-Charts and scored fifth places of the general Rock-Artist-Charts.
Lately, DYM beat more than 7500 bands on www.Track4.de, where their song "Forever 18" headed the punk rock charts as well as the general "Euro-Charts".
Even "EinsLive", the most popular radio station in the state of Northrhine Westfalia, Germany, was full of praise when DYM was featured in their show "Heimatkult", which introduces and promotes newcomer bands.
In 2006, the four guys of DYM started recording their first album "remember the good time", the songs David wrote and produced for his "DIY-preproduction" album. Besides their work in the studio, the guys were busy playing live, too. After winning a newcomer contest annouced for the whole of Northrhine-Westfalia (pop. 18 million) they had the honor to open up at the "Rock am Bad Festival" for Germanies upcoming newcomer top acts “Revolverheld” and "AK4711".
The year 2007, however, was even more successful for them. During spring they participated in a context of "BRAVO", the leading magazine for teenagers on music, stars and lifestyle in Germany, and were voted among the top 10 newcomer bands in the country. Soon the festival summer came up and the guys was given the huge honor of playing the Coca Cola-stage on one of Germany..s biggest festivals, the "Hurricane"- festival, while taking part in Coca Cola..s "Soundwave Discovery Tour". This said tour peaked in the particular show the guys will never forget, the final show at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, playing for more than 30.000 people.
All those memorable moments shall not conceal the fact, that the band is still a regionally known band and not doing the whole thing as a daytime job so, while enjoying the good time they..ve had throughout the years, it was time to take a step forward.
The work on their second album began in spring 2008. The band decided to stand on their own feet and do all the recording, mixing and mastering themselves. Finally, in december of 2008, their second album "Four Of A Kind" was released and the band is preparing for a new year of more shows, more fun and more good music for you guys out there!
