The Dead Pony Society started October 2003, in a city called Elk Grove. For about three year they were just finding their sound and getting to know how things work.
Summer 2006 they decided to mix in some horns... this was good.
Being band geeks, and growing up on bands like Flogging Molly, and the World/Inferno Friendship Society, they were satisfied that they would not be satisfied until they were a bigger band. So now they are an eight piece.
That brings us to: They are not ska!
...not that I have anything against ska; their Genre is Gypsy Punk Cabaret, or so I would say. But if not Gypsy Punk Cabaret then Punk/soul.
It is all alt/indie to me: just put them the punk section of a record store and I am all good.
Now where was I... Oh yes, they are the next big thing; I honestly believe it!! If you want to see a good show come and see the Dead Pony Society.
