DQuest was born in Mississippi, a product of a broken home, domestic violence and poverty. He is one of six siblings. Under the guidance of a young struggling single mom, determined to make ends meet she relocated the family to the South Side of Chicago to avoid domestic violence. This is where his musical journey began. It was here where he submerged himself in writing songs and playing the drums as an escape to the gang laden streets.
DQuest later moved to Boston, MA where he now lives. He continues to surface in big ways and stands strong as one of the most revered young & talented singer songwriters on the East coast and beyond. He has broken ground and has had huge national success. He has written and co-produced songs with and for some of the most prominent artists in the industry. Through songwriting, acting and performing DQuest has been able to stay in the hearts and minds of his fans across world. His recent work, a song entitled “Fallen Angel” with Boston's own original hip hop 3 some, Special Teamz is featured in the block buster film "Gone Baby Gone" directed by Ben Affleck.
All that DQuest has faced growing up has shaped his lifestyle, personality and swagga and is much of what his music sounds and feels like. It’s urban, pop, hard hitting, smooth, soul stirring, cutting edge, authentic and sexy.
DQuest is also committed to making a difference in his community by working with homeless street involved youth and has dedicated countless hours to the City of Boston’s “Start Peace” Campaign to reduce violence. In collaboration with the super- group called 4Peace, comprised of Boston’s own Antonio Ennis, EDo.G, and Wyatt Jackson (of Here & Now) won the Mass Industry Committee’s 2007 Group of the Year Award.
DQuest's philosophy is to keep his sights on big things, only run with a few good people, make feel good music and understand the game. "As the business evolves you have to evolve with it, as long as you keep the essence of who you are the same," says DQuest.
