If life is a journey, then you have to find your own way. Sometimes it takes a while. But, as they say, the right way always branches off from the wrong one. So where ever you are, you can still find it, you're never completely lost. Dragonfly are two people who are on their own way. Their paths crossed in Berlin and now lead on together into the wide, wide world. Razia started her inner and outer journey with writing, moved on to theatre. Now she sings, from her heart, for all to hear. Phil took his time finding the crossroads. He wandered the airways and byways of international business before he jumped off the carousel and sat down at his piano. The whirlpool of life can send you floating on clouds and then in the next moment pull you down into the depths. From there things sometimes look hopeless, but life always go on. And slowly you begin to enjoy the rhythm of the journey - of life. You don't want it any other way. You want to live it in all its beauty and sadness, the love and the hurt. And what better way to celebrate it than to sing it out loud, to let everybody know how you're feeling, and to say: hey, it's all right to feel, it's all right to laugh and cry, that's what it's all about. And that's what Dragonfly do. They stand up there and say: you know what we're talking about. You've felt it in your heart and in your soul, too. We're all on our way. The songs Dragonfly sing come from many directions: soul, blues, jazz, pop, in which Razia's resonant voice, sometimes rich and powerful, sometimes clear and tender, is fully at home. It soars over Phil's waves of notes, which blend all these styles with a little classical influence from days playing Bach and Mozart as a child. The mixture is spiced with their own compositions: a haunting ballad, a fierce defence of the individual, a stubborn affirmation of life, advice for the fearful. Personal statements, to which everyone can say: I know what they're talking about. As they say, from the heart...nach eigener Art (in their own way). Wenn das Leben eine Reise ist, muß man den eigenen Weg finden. Manchmal dauert es eine Weile. Aber, wie es so heißt, der richtige Weg biegt immer vom falschen ab. Wo auch immer Du bist, Du wirst ihn noch finden, Du bist nie völlig verloren.

Dragonfly sind zwei Leute, die auf dem eigenen Weg sind. Ihre Wege haben sich in Berlin gekreuzt und führen jetzt gemeinsam in die weite, breite Welt. Razia fing ihre innere und äußere Reise mit dem Schreiben an, und ging weiter zum Theater. Jetzt singt sie, aus dem Herzen, für alle zu hören. Phil brauchte etwas Zeit, die Kreuzung zu finden. Er kreiste lang auf Luftwegen und Holzwegen der internationalen Wirtschaft herum, bevor er vom Karussell absprang und sich ans Klavier setzte. Der Strudel des Lebens läßt Dich auf Wolken schweben und reißt Dich im nächsten Moment in tiefe Abgründe. Dort scheint es manchmal aussichtslos, aber es geht immer weiter. Und langsam fängst Du an, den Rhythmus der Reise - des Lebens - zu genießen. Du willst es nicht anders. Du willst es so erleben, die Schönheit und Traurigkeit, die Liebe und den Schmerz. Und wie kannst Du es besser feiern, als laut zu singen, alle wissen zu lassen, wie Du Dich fühlst, und zu sagen: hey, wir dürfen fühlen, wir dürfen lachen und weinen, darum geht's ja doch. Und das machen Dragonfly. Sie stehen da und sagen: Ihr wisst, wovon wir reden. Ihr habt es auch in Euren Herzen und Seelen empfunden. Wir sind alle auf dem Weg. Die Lieder, die Dragonfly singen, kommen aus vielen Richtungen: Soul, Blues, Jazz, Pop. Da ist Razias resonante Stimme, mal voll und kräftig, mal klar und weich, völlig zu Hause. Sie fliegt über Phils Wellen von Noten, die sämtliche Stilrichtungen mit etwas klassischem Einfluß vermischen, mit Bach und Mozart aus seiner Kindheit. Gewürzt wird die Mischung mit eigenen Kompositionen: eine tief bewegende Ballade, eine scharfe Selbstverteidigung, eine sture Bejahung des Lebens, Rat für Furchtsame.
