About me: The Dragons Disabled swimming Club is a competitive multi disability swiming club for swimmers of all ages. We welcome disabled swimmers from all around South Wales and are currently based in Caerphilly.
We have been running since 1993 and have produced swimmers who have gone on to represent Wales and Britain at international events. Five of our former members; David Roberts MBE, Gareth Duke, Elizabeth Johnson, Nyree Lewis and Rhiannon Henry have all gone on to represent Great Britain at the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Paralympic Games.
Our aim is to continue developing swimmers so that they too can follow in the paths of those who have represented us so well in the past.
We meet at Caerphilly Leisure Centre every Saturday evening between 18:30-19:30.
As we're coming closer and closer to Beijing 2008 here's the highlight of the closing ceremony from athens 2004
And here's the promotional video for the official mascot for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games Fu Niu Lele. Unfortunately there is no sound for now.
Who I'd like to meet: We are always on the lookout for new members and welcome swimmers of any disability and age as long as they can swim more than 50 metres.
We are holding a bag-packing session at Morrisons in Caerphilly this Saturday to help raise funds for the club.
We would like as many members, friends and family to come as possible as the more people we have on the tills the more money we can raise.
We would like to have people there by 10 AM. All money raised will go to the club so it will benefit everyone if we have as many people helping as possible.
Well, what can I say, I set up this page and then after about a week it decides that it doesn't want me to login any more! Whatever the problem was it seems as if it's cleared up and I can start catching up on things now.
