I love computers, video games, and various hobbiest strategy games, however I enjoy intellectual conversations above all that. Someone who will talk to me about why the world acts how it does, and what makes the universe tick, as afermentioned. I'm also constantly seeking new hobbies and interests, feel free to enlist or convert me to one of your interests if you have any worth exploreing.
Music
Music
I like a little from every genre I suppose. I'm picky in my taste of music but not exclusive in any way... For example I dislike most rap, however I don't mind a select few songs. I love tons of Celtic and New Age music, but I listen to Rock, and Alternitive. I also enjoy Country or Jazz depending on my mood, and when I'm working or occasionally playing games, a little Heavy Metal never hurts, on the split side neither does Classical Music.
Basically I like all sorts of music, and I'll tell you what I don't like when I hear it.
Movies
Anything with an intelligent plot. I highly dislike pointless movies that drive on based on nothing but retarded humor, or "non-stop adrenaline pumping action!". If it was a well thought out movie with a good plot, I will appreciate it.
Television
House, Lost, Stargate SG1, Andromeda, Star Trek, CSI:Vegas... Yeah can you tell I'm a nerd yet? Thats about it though.
Books
I suppose I liked the Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking, although its interest is more intellectual than mind drawing.
Other books primarily in the fantasy genre come to mind as well, however there are far to many to list. I used to read a lot, however I've slowed down, and actually come to a literal stop in recent years. The next book I will likely read is one a friend of mine is writing, and it will be purely for reviewing purposes.
Heroes
Well.... HERE WE GO!
Stephen Hawking,
Stephen Lynch,
Denis Leary,
George Carlin,
Gordon Ramsey,
Michael Shermer,
Richard Dawkins,
James Randi,
Daniel Dennett,
Steven Pinker,
Christopher Hitchens,
Penn, and Teller
are people who are true heroes to me,
as for fictional ones...
Gregory House,
Daniel Jackson,
Samantha Carter,
and
Gill Grissom,
The majority of the scientists and magicians prior to the TV celebrities are atheists... This is not definitive of my idols, however there is a tendency for me to admire people who have the same logical views I do. After all I try and be logical and I don’t have any beliefs I think are illogical therefore people with similar beliefs seem logically and admirable to me.
Soon to be proud member of the United States Marine Corps...
I have a profound curiosity, about... Well about everything... I will discuss any subject to any length with you, but its the people who stretch my mind who I will become most interested in. I'm looking for a test or a limit. I make philosophies on life, and I study people, problems and issues in the worlds. I actively analyze everything around me, and I try to find solutions for all the problems. It's not my place, and I'm not the arbiter deciding what's right or wrong, but I will say this only once, I find it very hard to operate on the presumption I'm wrong, and while I believe in modesty as a trait one should use in their daily lives with random people, it is a waste of time with those you are close to. If you have a discussion with me, there will be no modesty, there will be no lies, and I won't soften my perspectives for those who feel them socially inappropriate, or who are sensitive to certain subject matters. Its not in my personality, and I'd never say never (I have this love hate relationship with irony, paradoxes, and contradictions), but its unlikely I'll choose to change my logical outlooks on life for more ideological standards...
I like perspective, I wish people had more of it... I put myself in peoples shoes all the time, so if you find me saying I understand a lot, you don't need to believe it as I can't possibly understand truly what I haven't been through, however, one thing I can do is show you as much empathy as anyone who does understand could. I can show you the same level of emotion you could get from someone who has been through exactly what you have been through, and while it may not be the same as talking to someone who's been there and done that, fundimentally what's the difference? I believe in semantics, and I follow the golden rule, I only do to others what I would allow to be done to myself. I am a hypocrite however, and I don't make light of this fact, but the fact is most people are hypocrites... I use my hypocrisy towards purposes though.
I've been called shallow, I've been called an ass, I've been called insensitive, and morally deprived, and perhaps its all true. I won't deny these things, but what I will say is I hold fundamental values in all my opinions to be true. I do only things that will in the end result in more good then the bad they caused. I'm opposed to war, but I will join the Marines and kill a thousand people to become a general so I can make a real difference instead of standing on the side waving peace signs to no avail. I dislike corporatism, but I will make my own business, and I will drive others to poverty and onto the streets where they may starve to death, so I can rise to the top of the corporate latter, put others corporations out of business, and then change my business, or abolish them all for the better of humanity, meanwhile another altruist would stand on the sidelines claiming to be good when all he did was boycott one business to no effect... I won't scream and yell to congressman about what they should do, because corruption is more powerful in a monetary government then the voice of one citizen, instead I will rise to the top of government, and become a politician, and in the process I will smear any politician in my way, and break any number of laws I can get away with to do so, as most politicians do, so that I can make a real difference in the society I sincerely care for... You see I am a hypocrite, and will always be one, but it is a social necessity if you want to make your life matter, its not a pretty game life, and anyone who claims there's a virtuous way doesn't understand the monster humanity has created.
Still, don't think I'm blind to beauty... The intrinsic things in life are what catch me... I love science, and I love thought, the amazing things people can conceive, music, compassion, love, or just ideas... I enjoy sunsets, and the ocean intrigues me, I love sitting under a starry sky and looking at the moon, or constellations, and various planets, or even just imagining all the things out there we haven't seen yet. I imagine the future, or what things would look like if thousands of years passed like seconds... Images of the natural places this planet maintains leave me awestruck, from the Sahara Desert and it's rolling sand dunes, to the pristine Arctic and Antarctic, from rain-forests and waterfalls, to beaches, mountains, valleys, and canyons... I love natural beauty...
I'm not a cruel person, I'm just a realist. I'm one of those people who says they want a better world for their kids and really means it. To the degree that I'm willing to rip down every major institution, or try to the best of my ability to do so without hesitation or halt. I'm not shy about my motivations, and my goals... I once asked people how many of their goals they'd achieved with results beyond their expectations... I asked people how often they performed better then their expectations, and if they did so of their own power, or by accident, luck, or fluke. What I found is people never do better then they expect themselves to do, except by random and rare chance, although they often to worst then they expect. However, the majority of times, when people set goals, they eventually achieve them if they never give up on their goals, and always strive to succeed. So I'm often told my goals are too large, and what I tell you today, is you need perspective, you can never achieve what you don't strive for, and you must be willing to do anything to get there. So drop all inhibitions, and stop naysaying your abilities, because the only thing preventing success is your own expectations. The problem isn't my goals are too large, perhaps the real problem is the rest of the worlds goals are clouded by false senses of morality, and perhaps their goals are too small... If I don't achieve my goals what have I lost by setting them? My goals can't be set any higher, so no matter what I end off as good as I could possibly get, but everyone else limits their potential in a mental game they need not play... Think about it...
I've almost finished my Associates in Arts at Skagit Valley College. I plan on working towards a primary major in Constitutional Law, with a minor in Static Psychology, and Business Macro Economics. I will also be working towards my Associates in Science, a degree in Accounting, and a Physical Trainers Permit. I plan to have secondary major in Neurological Medical Diagnostics, and Computer Engineering, with a Minor in Computer Sciences... Some might call this excessive ambitions, but one I put no time limit on when I plan to achieve these goals... Two I never said I wouldn't decide I wanted more degrees or some such. Three, I don't believe education is a means to an end, I believe you should want to learn, and that education should be a desire, for me it is and that's the reason I plan on taking at least one class every quarter (Aside from summer and a few choice exceptions), for the rest of my life. However, where learning is important to me grades are not. I get a lot of flak due to that fact, but its a personal philosophy I'd be happy to explain to you.
I'll talk more about me when I know more, I'm at a crossroads right now... We'll see what happens with my life, I'm optimistic though...
Anything else you want to know about me you can ask me..
Who I'd like to meet:
My opinion on people is simple, we surround ourselves with people like us, and people we decided we liked for random variables, and this is a major social problem, because it segregates society. I think a friend who has more differences then similarities with you has more to offer then someone exactly like you. So I'm open to meeting anyone, and I want to sincerely learn about people, and make honest friendships, not just temporary acquaintances... I believe broadening ones horizons by adopting different perspectives, and opening your mind to people unlike you is the only way to advance, and it is through closing your mind to others thoughts and ideas that people create conflict. So the odds are I'd be happy to meet you, whoever you are, just so long as you're willing to seriously consider friendship...
but people are proving the Bible right all the time. look at noahs ark. if this was not real, why would the turkish government have such restrictions on visiting mt. ararat, which is where the ark is beleived to be? (maybe because if we found it, it would prove their religion is wrong.)
there are many more of these events in the Bible which have been proven right. look into the books. there is alot written about them all. im not forcing my beleif upon you, and im not looking down on you in anyway, and i thank you for respecting my beleif.
And i would like to point out that seperation of church and state is nowhere in the constitution. It was first found in a letter that Thomas Jefferson wrote to A CHURCH soothing their fears that they would be protected from the government. It was not meant to protect the state from the church. Besides if, as you claim, we were never a Christian nation, how come Obama says "We are no longer a Christian nation?"
ya, but the people who came over here from Britian came over because the King wasnt allowing them to worship God the way they wanted. they came over as Christians, and the vast majority of the people who signed the Declaration of Independence were proclaimed Christians.
anyways, i just signed my name because i liked it, and even though this nation is not singularily Christian, i am, and i was raised up being taught even in history that this nation is a "Christian" nation.
I have to say, I like your page introduction now more than the previous one. :)
You are a lot nicer and kind hearted than a lot of people make you out to be. I believe that you are a good friend who truly cares, even though you have an odd way of showing it. :P
You. Are. An. Asshole. I ask a simple question and you won't ever answer. There is nothing important you could be doing at 11 pm on winter break if you're still awake. You can hide offline, but I know you've read it. ANSWER OR I WILL CALL! (Not a threat but a promise with a nice red ribbon on it :D)
Nah, can't kill you yet...you still have uses lol. I just got done setting up at Christina's, so I'll be here for a week and on Live for a week pretty much 24/7. If ya need anything, you know how to get ahold of me. We should play some GRAW2 or somethin, I brought all my 360 games with me.
