Drakonus is a five piece metal band that originated in the winter of 2008, and are based out of Houston Texas. Drakonus’ musical influences include Slayer, Sanctuary, Iron Maiden, Venom, Amon Amarth, Pantera, and Dio. The musicians that comprise Drakonus are very dedicated and focused on reaching their goal of having their music embraced globally.
Scott Webb is the singer for the band. He founded and played in Houston band Spiritul Winter which gained national notoriety in the 90’s opening for bands such as Morbid Angel, Exodus, Malevolent Creation and Sinister to name a few. He also played in Plague which was a local favorite.
Jonathan Smith guitarist founded and played in Houston band H.P.D. in 1999. The band went on to perform regional shows, gaining lots of fans throughout the southern region. They opened for major acts, then later relocated to Los Angeles until its demise in 2001.
James Murray guitarist was in national act Dirt. They landed a deal with EMI and toured the country. James then went on to play in Concussion Bleu a Texas band playing cover and originals with drummer Bryan Deutsch. Hailing from Texas, Bryan brings dedication and hard work like the other members of Drakonus.
William bassist played in Houston band Dark Quiet which is another local favorite. One day Jonathan was thinking of starting a studio project, that indeed lead to a full on band and Drakonus was formed. The goal is to have fun and make great music. “Having knowing the guys personally from around the scene and other projects throughout the years, putting together this band was easy.” Five friends united to bring our love for metal worldwide!
The band is currently in the studio recording their debut CD.(Drakonus),self titled.
