Zimbabwe holds a dear space in our hearts and we have made a commitment to travel there every year. Unfortunately, because of the political situation in Zimbabwe, we have been warned against any artistic visitation and so, for the safety of our staff, these projects have been put on hold until we are told otherwise.
"III Acts" playwrights project: we will take 2 foreign playwrights and one Zimbabwean playwright on a wild journey throughout the country to gather experiences to be formed into a play. Each playwright will write one Act based on experiences and stories they would like to share. The play will be performed at the next HIFA (Harare International Festival of the Arts) celebration by members of the Bulawayo Young Company.
The Bulawayo Young Company is a group of student actors who are currently being trained at Amakhosi Theatre in Bulawayo with help from members of Amakhosi and Dramatic Adventure Theatre's Staff. They are extremely talented young people and we are excitedly watching them grow into their talent.
Ecuador made quite an impression on our team during their two month project in May and June of 2008. We've put together the following projects to empower voices in Ecuador.
ACTion:Ecuador: A 24 day journey for theatre students or any emphasis to learn and grow as an artist and human being while discovering 3 unique locations in Ecuador. They will spend one week in The Andes working on the Quilotoa Arts Project, one week in EITHER the coast, the jungle, or the Galapagos, and one week in the cloud forest rehearsing their work in the town of Mindo. They will then return to NYC for a weekend performance at the end of July 2009.
We're looking for 128 lucky students to make the trip and have the adventure of a lifetime. For more information, check out www.dramaticadventure.com or e-mail Mary at MKR@dramaticadventure.com.
The Quilotoa Arts Project:A community arts center with resources to help the people of Quilotoa achieve their full potential. More info to come.

MISSION STATEMENT:
Dramatic Adventure Theatre provides the opportunity for artists to perform around the world, to explore the unknown and the familiar, and to become intimately involved with distant communities in order to build a platform where ideas, talent, and original works can be shared.
Who I'd like to meet: YOU...you have the opportunity to be a part of this dramatic adventure. Please consider donating your time, energy, talent, or money to this noble cause. You really can make a difference.
Together we will empower these people in Zimbabwe and Ecuador and touch lives in many more countries. The message of peace and hope will be taken everywhere DRAMATIC ADVENTURE goes. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?
You don't have to travel with us to be a part of the adventure...there is much to be done here at home. Please send us a message if you'd like to get involved.
