DRAUGGARD ("A Domain Of Undead" in ancient Iceland) was formed by a guitarist and composer Dmitry Ulybin and a drummer/lyrics writer Mikhail Panphilov in spring 2003 in Nizhniy Novgorod city (Russia). Aleksandr "Sataneev" Kalentiev (ex-Morok) was invited to the band as a singer. DRAUGGARD recorded their first demo entitled "Wodan id est Furor" in December 2004. The demo included 4 tracks and has been distributed in a limited number of copies. The record featured the drummer's vocal on 2 tracks. In 4/16/2005 DRAUGGARD debuted live to support MORTEM. DRAUGGARD appeared to be the first band of Nizhniy Novgorod metal scene to perform raw, fast and evil black metal with some Immortal influences. Soon after the first show Roman Kravchenko joined the band as a bass player and DRAUGGARD started to regularly perform live on stages of Nizhniy Novgorod. DRAUGGARD shows provoked rather an unequal response from the audience. The band was either loved or hated and no indifference towards their music took place. In 2006 the band released "Baldr's Dreams" single thus taken an evident direction to a technical thrash/black metal. The song "Baldr's Dreams" has consequently featured in "Armageddon Vol. 1" black/death metal compilation released by CD - Maximum lable and gained the cult status among local metalheads. Unfortunately Roman Kravchenko left the band for some private reasons and the new bass man Denis Maximyuk was enrolled to the band in September 2006. During the years 2007-2008 the band recorded "Live in Saint Petersburg" and "Nidhedichte" EPs though the latter was recorded with a new singer Anton Abrahmov.

Today DRAUGGARD is an evident leader of Nizhniy Novgorod metal scene. Beside the sets with such bands as ASSASSIN, NECRONOMICON, BELPHEGOR, CATAMENIA, URSKUMUG and many others DRAUGGARD have become the first Russian band to play at WACKEN ROAD SHOW 2008 in Kiev and Moscow having shared the stage with OVERKILL, ENSLAVED, SAMAEL, TRISTANIA and DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS. Now DRAUGGARD headlines local shows, has several tours made including the ones together with Turkish black metal band EPISODE 13 and German thrashers NUCLEAR WARFARE and currently looks forward recording the debut full-length album.
