After the first demo-tape „Caught in Illusion” (1995) and several gigs in the following years (i.a. support for Hate Squad), much songmaterial for the first demo CD “Last Light” existed. In opposite to the tape, the CD was more influenced by Melodic Metal and was sent to several magazines around the world and received very good critics. In Europe, Dreadful Minds sold some hundred copies of “Last Light” and played as spec. guest for “Molly Hatchet” and "Hate Squad". In Summer 2002, after a change of members, the very praised Maxi-CD “Lost my Heart” appeared, on which you could feel the new power of the band. The press was very enthusiastic, and airplay followed in Germany as well as around the world, from South America to Netherland and New Zeeland. The songs were presented an amazed crowd as support for “In Extremo” in 2002. The song “Lost my Heart” was taken for a sampler called “Prog Sampler Vol.1, (Quixote/Pängg)” and the first TV appearance was realized. 2004, finally followed a record deal with the german label TTS. Unfortunatly, some members would leave the band, and so the recording of the debut album “Broken” was not the best decision for that time. But now, after the split of the label TTS, and with a once more change of members, Dreadful Minds starts to record the album again, with a new singer and new power. Nach dem ersten Demo-Tape "Caught in Illusion" (1995) und zahlreichen Gigs in den darauffolgenden Jahren (u.a. mit „Hate Squad“), gab es genug Songmaterial für die erste Demo-CD „Last Light“ (1997). Im Gegensatz zum Tape schon eher von Melodic-Metal Einflüssen geprägt, wurde diese an diverse Magazine und Agenturen geschickt und erhielt gute Kritiken. Dreadful Minds verkaufte die CD einige hundert mal (europaweit) und waren Spec.-guest für "Molly Hatchet“. Im Sommer 2002, nach einer Bandumbesetzungsphase, die Aufnahme der von der Presse vielgelobten Demo-Maxi-CD "Lost my heart", auf der man deutlich die neuen Impulse und Frische der Band spürt. Die Presse war mehr als begeistert und es folgte Airplay auf HR3 Hard..n..Heavy und weltweit von Südamerika über Holland bis Neu Seeland. Einem begeisterten Publikum wurde das Potential im Vorprogramm von "In Extremo" im August 2002 vorgestellt. Der Song “Lost my heart” schaffte es auf den Prog-Sampler Vol.1 (Quixote/Pängg) und der 1. Fernsehauftritt konnte verbucht werden. 2004 kam dann endlich der langersehnte Plattendeal bei TTS Media Music, Vertrieb ALIVE. Unglücklicherweise wollten einige Mitglieder die Band verlassen, somit war das Erscheinen der CD „Broken“ im Jahr 2006 nicht die beste Entscheidung. Nach dem Split des Labels TTS und einem neuen Mitgliederwechsel wird Dreadful Minds das Album nochmals aufnehmen, mit neuem Sänger, neuem Label und neuer Power.
