"I am a King, so understand my dream before you speak to me,
People Everywhere Actually Co-existing Equally" -Russell King
P.E.A.C.E. - People Everywhere Actually Coexisting Equally. There are people out there who don't get it, and there are some who do. But I think in order to truly understand what P.E.A.C.E. means, we should take a look, in detail what the acronym stands for.
P stands for people. The individual. That is us, me, you, and them. We are individuals that stand in a global community. We are one person out of billions of people living on this planet. And when we gather together collectively, we become a group, a community, a nation, a society. We are ones that are responsible for making a change, the change we want to see in our community, the effect we want it to have on OUR nation. We are the ones that contribute to, AND constitute, society.
E stands for everywhere, our world around us. It doesn't matter where you were before, where you are right now, where you're going tomorrow; we are all affected by events in our lives that happen around us, day to day. Sometimes it can uplifts us, others events we can't bear to experience, and then there are the events that can often take for granted. But regardless of what event takes place, we are impacted by it. We are affected by the effect we have on the world around us. In order to appreciate our world around us, we need to look closer, to understand, and to examine. This is where education comes in.
A stands for actually, or action, or activism. If there’s ever going to be any change in this world, action must take place. Actions can either reinforce our ideals, or backfire altogether. Now for many people, this is the most difficult part and tends to raise the question... what can I do? ...to this I say, "your best..."
But ironically, our everyday simple actions of giving money to the less fortunate, cleaning up the environment, taking care of ourselves physically or emotionally or even just thinking positively can make a lasting difference in our world.
C stands for co-existence. Individuals have a right to live on this planet. This means having to have the bare necessities of food, clothing, shelter, and proper drinking water. This also means being tolerant to other people regardless of the color of their skin, their sexual orientation, their age, their nationality, their disability, their beliefs and their values. It is accepting individuals as the way they are.
E stands for equally or equality. All individuals were made equal. Yet within our human nature, we have a tendency to seek control, dominance, and aggression over our human and natural resources. We consume and fetish so much that others less fortunate miss out. As the population in the world becomes greater, there is a dire need to accommodate the next generation of people that will live off the way our generation and the generations before that have existed. Society needs to set aside our differences of wealth and power, so that the burdens of history would not echo long after we are dead.
You put these ideas altogether and you have PEACE.....try it! I dare you!
