Dreecnai, aka Enrico Niederberger, born in Berlin (Germany) started his DJ career at the early age of thirteen. Taking any given opportunity to rock a party, Enrico soon became famous at school parties for being the man behind the music. His style, “dancefloor”, “rave-techno”, and “hardcore-techno” - the style that would for the first time introduce to him the greatest influence on his future style and taste in music: the breakbeat-loop.
Enrico’s fascination with fast breaks soon shifted his interest to more rhythmic styles of breakbeat music such as Big Beat (Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Junkie XL, etc.). He felt that this style had defined its sound clearer in ways that he had been missing in techno music.
At the beginning of 2000 his taste took another turn, the Moving Shadow disk “98.2“ was presented to him by a friend and the doors to a new sound world opened for Enrico. As chance had it, his first night out in pursuit of more such sounds turned out to be Moving Shadow special at a local club, giving him an even broader perspective of the club sound this new music had to offer. It made it possible for him to identify with one single direction in music that combined his love for energetic tempo and rhythm: Drum & Bass.
Soon Enrico was visiting all local Drum & Bass partys in Berlin and at the beginning of 2001 he bought his first vinyl. Hunting down the freshest releases, learning how to mix and setting up a studio was the next step and by the end of the year Dreecnai was born as a “Bedroom DJ” who would make a name for himself in the local scene. After a short while it happened that he was invited by a friend to support him as DJ in north-german city Rostock. This was the first time mixin’ for a “real crowd” and the resonance was so overwhelming that it led to his first gig at the well known European partyship “MS Stubnitz”. This was followed by performances in Berlin, Dresden, Rostock again and on certain Internet Radio Shows.
At this point the Internet had already been very supportive to the Drum..n Bass scene. Having followed its progression, Dreecnai became very active in the online communities and used it..s given opportunities to present his studio mixes (the Hi-Octane Series) to an international audience. Here he was truly successful to the extent that his mixes were featured among internationally known DJ..s and classified as Top Downloads on boards such as DSCI4.
From this platform, Dreecnai would share work with other international dj..s and producers such as arQer & Realtime, Su3-ject, Sunchase, russian TAM Crew, Kantyze, Implex, Purple Unit, Nothing, Muffler & Kaiser etc. which explains the presence of these artists in Dreecnai’s mix-sets.
The next big step on the road was an eight-week european tour with Realtime (Houston, USA) in spring 2004, which was completly worked out and managed by Dreecnai.
Later Dreecnai also started working on own DnB-Events (brought up with friends like Dresden located Nyceguys or Berlin Transition Crew), but mostly taking care of the bookings. End of 2004 Russia’s most famous Paul B was invited to Dresden and in 2005 it was Impulse (Corrupt Souls, USA) playing in Berlin …
