Dresden Codex began as most other bands do. Five musicians, seeking distraction from the everyday drudgery of life, rediscovered the power of music. Our chemistry clicked and soon it became clear to all that this project would lead to much more.
Chris (drums) and Mike (rhythm guitar) spawned the embryo which would later evolve into Dresden Codex. Jon (vocals) soon joined the two, and quickly they recruited Shane (lead guitar) and Murf (bass) to complete the line-up.
Our music reflects the groups common interest in the progression of metal music. Continuously writing, the band is creating a sound which grows darker and heavier by the day. Influenced by acts such as Machine Head, Arch Enemy, Soilwork, The Faceless, Pantera, and In Flames, Dresden Codex is constantly refining our gritty, dirty, drop-tuned sound. We seek an awakening. A revitalization of the underground...pummeling enough to kick the door of the metal scene wide open.
