“You have no idea the impact you have
had on my life. I am going home as
a better wife, mommy and person.
The demon inside feels a little more
manageable to me because of the
Breast Cancer Recovery Foundation.
You have earned a jewel in your crown for
all you have done for so many people.”

Dresses That Heal, Inc. is a unique and cutting edge fund-raiser that allows brides to honor the strength and journey of breast cancer survivors.
The current program features gowns donated by some of the top names in the industry – Judd Waddell, Marisa, Amy Michelson, Henry Roth, L’Ezu Atelier, Matthew Christopher. The gowns, along with other donated items, are auctioned off at the largest bridal show in the Midwest. The proceeds are then donated to the Breast Cancer Recovery Foundation, Inc.
The Dresses That Heal fund-raiser began after Rachael Rivard, a bridal consultant in Madison, Wisconsin, shared an emotional moment with one of her brides. “Normally when you find the right gown a bride is able to envision exactly what she will look like when she marries the man that she wants to spend the rest of her life with. Some girls giggle, they can’t stop smiling and others are moved to tears. On this day the bride shared with me that there were times when she thought she might not live to see this vision. She was a 28-year-old breast cancer survivor whose image would forever change the meaning of finding the perfect wedding gown.”
A wedding dress is a symbol of a future between two people to commit and fill their lives with love for one another “till death do they part”. Dresses That Heal, Inc. is dedicated to helping brides’ find the perfect dress for their wedding, a dress that is not only beautiful, but will make a difference in the lives of women living with breast cancer. For our brides, their gown is not only a sign of the future, it is also a sign of hope and healing for someone battling with this terrible disease.
Giving is the act that is at the root of receiving. So many women are in need of our help and we realize that this fundraiser will not provide you with any cash rewards, but the benefits will be far greater. One in eight women is diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime, we need to help our mothers, sisters, lovers and friends to regain their life and spirit. The attention that this event will draw can only grow and you could be a part of it. Please take the time to make a difference in someone’s life while doing something that you love, let’s create Dresses That Heal!

Who I'd like to meet: Any cancer survivor who had the strength and the courage to send it back to remission. I would also like to meet the family who helped in support of their survival. Anyone who has lost someone to breast cancer, a mother, a friend, a sister, a lover or a daughter. Anyone who has stood up and fought because we need to help one another. You are all my heroes!
I would also like to meet Vera Wang, Monique L'huillier and everyone else that has loved creating a design for a women's wedding day.
Thanks for your support! I hope you will visit our community to connect with other patients, survivors, and supporters and for more information on how you can make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. www.NationalBreastCancer.org/MyNBCF
