1,000+ live performances to date, Drew De Four is a 6'7, Belgian-American, singer-songwriter, Dueling Pianist, actor, and multi-instrumentalist. After graduating from the University of Michigan in May of 2006, Drew embarked on his first world tour playing 75 shows over 5 months in 30 different international cities including Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore, Boulder, Seattle, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin - performing at night clubs, cafés and piano bars. 2007 saw the release of his debut album: "Earlier Work" which he released at over 150 shows internationally throughout a year that also included Drew signing his first record contract with the Indie label: Grey Dog's Records in Japan. 2008 continued Drew's workaholic tendencies - he wrote, produced, and released "Love and Politics on a Piano" and played over 170 shows internationally in support (including his first tour of Japan as well as the US, UK, and Ireland). 2009 is a big year for De Four - he will be recording "The Troubadour," his most ambitious project to date: a full length album with over 20 musicians involved in the project. Another international tour is in the works as well as plans for a live album and DVD. On top of all of this, Drew has already mostly completed the songs for his 4th album - appropriately entitled "Bartillary" - and has already begun performing these songs live.
When Drew is not performing his own material at “original-music-endorsing” venues, he tours as one of the most prolific Dueling Pianists on the national circuit, performing a high-energy, sing-along, all-request rock show. Over the past 7 years, he has performed at over 40 different Dueling Pianos venues from coast to coast.
Although he plays in a variety of formats, Drew's most recent incarnation as a solo piano performer has proven to be his forte. While promoting his original material, Drew enlivens audiences with his charismatic piano-playing style and inexhaustive repertoire. Drew desires to be an entertainer above all else and to serve the audience instead of vice versa. Though typically solo, guest musicians and even a backing band might also accompany a Drew De Four show. Check myspace for show details.
Drew's music is a truly eclectic mix of all piano forms. Influenced by Tom Waits, Ray Charles, Van Morrison, Peter Gabriel, and the Afghan Whigs, Drew writes in a variety of styles and genres with a focus on rhythm and percussion. Lately, Drew's original sound draws on classical roots with a contemporary mix of rock, jazz, country, folk, soul and r&b. For the most part, Drew enjoys playing: "whatever you want to hear," because he values the audience more than the music.
