About me:

My first book The Lodger was a finalist in the Lambda Awards and I have been in various short story collections and on websites. I was the winner of the 2005 Leicestershire Short Story Comp and also a winner in the 2005 Middlesex University Press Prize. My new book 'Me and Mickie James' is available now.

PRAISE FOR ME AND MICKIE JAMES

THE GUARDIAN
"Oddly affecting... manages to avoid both cliché and sentimentality... the reader willingly surrenders to the mad tour."

DAZED AND CONFUSED
“Gummerson hits upon an awkward ingenious prose style that makes biting comedy out of both the surreal and the mundane.”

3SIXTY
“Me and Mickie James is guaranteed to put a smile on the most miserable of faces.”

AESTHETICA
“Everyone needs a light-hearted book sometimes and Me and Mickie James does the trick.”

GT
“Gummerson’s dry humour will have you chuckling from page one to the end.”

CHROMA
“Won’t be forgotten in a hurry.”

GAYDARNATION
“Gummerson has written a gem of a novel.”

PULP.NET
“Constantly slap-stick silly... it may tell you a thing or two about the fun of being off beat.”

BOOK MARKS
“Gummerson anchors this charmingly quirky novel with exuberant storytelling and effervescent dialogue.”

Hey.

I haven't been by in a while and thought I'd stop in and say hi. Hope you're having a relaxing Sunday. The Pats and Red Sox are playing, so I know I will.

A Demon Awaits will be out on October 14th. I'm excited for the release, the screenplay and the new book I started about a month ago.

What's happening in your world?

Yes I received it and sent it on to a good young writer named Liam Tullberg to review. I sent him an email this morning actually asking if he’d had a chance to read it yet and if he would like to interview you for Chroma. If he’s too busy, maybe I could. I quickly read it before sending it off to him and loved it. It’s wild, fantastic and totally original!

I just got back from the Hay-on-Wye festival where I got soaked, but saw so many fantastic writers including Naomi Klein. I’m reading Shock Doctrine now; she’s amazing.

Hey Drew. You did a good job at the discussion as the moderator seemed to be fumbling a little, especially as you were speaking as a writer who has no experience with creative writing programs. I should have stepped up to say hi, but I was feeling shy. Sorry. Nice to see you are so good looking in person.

What better way to impress that indie kid with the glasses and tattoos? Let them catch you reading a book.

Belated thanks for the message. I've been away of late, and so exiled from my virtual other life. Back now, though.
