I was born in Oxford on March 7th many, many years ago, round about the time the wheel was invented and was lucky enough to land the two most loving parents a baby could wish for along with a fab sister to boot!
My Dad was a musician and had come from a singing family, a bit like The
Von Trapps but without the curtains! He and his singing partner had made regular appearances on a t.v variety show in their native Scotland and in 1969 also appeared on Oppotunity Knocks!
My sister and myself learned to harmonise at a very early age and we grew up listening to vocal harmony groups such as The Carpenters and The Beach Boys. Music has been a part of my life since day one and I can't remember ever wanting to do anything other than perform.
Thankfully as time has moved on I have been fortunate enough to earn a living doing what I love to do. Most of my career has been spent in musical theatre including the hit West End revival of Grease ( Original Cast ) playing the role of Roger at The Dominion Theatre and also the first year of the subsequent U.K tour, Jesus Christ Superstar at The Lyceum Theatre, Mamma Mia! ( Original Cast ) at The Prince Edward Theatre, Steve Strange in Boy George's musical Taboo ( Original Cast ) at The Venue and also the role of Philip Sallon on the show's first national tour, and Eddie/Dr Scott in the 30th anniversary production of The Rocky Horror Show at The Queens Theatre as well as on the national tour.
Most recently I have been part of the vocal harmony group The Unconventionals who made it to the final 12 acts alongside Leona Lewis on the hugely successful t.v series X Factor in 2006. It has been a long difficult road ever since but we have remained determined throughout and all being well we plan to release are long delayed debut album in the Spring of 2009.
So that's a brief summary of yours truly! Thanks for visiting and I hope you'll keep coming back for more updates just as soon as I've mastered the art of typing with more than two fingers! DOH!
love
DREW xx
