Drew Mason is Texas born and bred and he has music in his soul. While others were out making friends with other kids, ‘lil Drew was making records his best friends. When he slept his dreams came out in Chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, verse and so on.
Drew Mason developed his fascination with turntables and freestyling while in Military School. After graduation he moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where he attended the Madison Media Institute. It was there he studied the technical end of his passion, and learned how to record music. He began rapping and working with people he went to school with and recorded two albums there under the moniker “Lil Drew”.
It wasn’t until a move to San Diego, California, where he interned for Capricorn Studios that he came to terms with his sexuality, and became an out gay rapper dropping Lil Drew and giving birth to Drew Mason. Once he was out, he found his true voice, a voice for his people in a time of need, to make them feel not alone. To show them they can persevere through the struggle, of stereotypes or hate or discrimination if they would please believe in themselves.
His debut CD, “The Paradigm Shift” is a powerful release that captures all this passion and is due out on Big Milo Records this June.
Drew Mason loves performing, writing, and recording music. The music is truly in his soul and when you hear his passionate rhymes, it will be in yours as well.
