About me: I'm a freelance comic book writer. My first comic book, a four part series called ArchEnemies, came out in 2006 and was collected in trade in 2007. It's the story of a superhero and a supervillain who don't realize that they're roommates in their secret identities.
Check it out:
Are you poor? If you search around, I'm told you can find copies of the trade online for as little as 40 cents!
Here's a trailer for the graphic novel:
If it seems like I'm skimping on details here, it's only because I've got a whole website to look after at DrewMelbourne.com.
Happy Belated Birthday, Drew! In fact, it's such a happy occasion, I won't even pester you for information about whether or not the next volume of ArchEnemies is ever gonna come out. That shall be my gift to you. Yes, you're welcome.
(Seriously, though, hope you had a fantastic time!)
Happy Slightly Belated Birthday, my good man! In honor of the occasion, enjoy this classic birthday-themed Spider-Man panel, in which Gwen Stacy makes three completely inappropriate pop-culture references all at the same time.
Happy Birthday, Drew! Hope you've had an absolutely wonderful day. (If nothing else, Trish had better've made a big fuss of you, or she and I will have to have words.) To express my joy at this occasion, here's a picture of a group of happy Norman Rockwell-style folks being menaced by a dinosaur. I think you'll agree that it says more than mere words ever could.
Seriously, though, I wish you all the best and am looking forward to this coming year being another nail in the coffin of your enduring reputation as the 21st Century's greatest living comic writer.
There is a great documentary on IFC right now about Frank Frazetta! I am watching it and I thought of you haha. It will probably be on again...try and catch it.
Drew, i just wanted to say (in a public arena) that i love our little talks. you are a great roomie. oh i am thinking of a number between 1 and 10. do you know what it is yet? no not 4. nope, it isn't 9 either. alright, i'll just tell you, the answer is ... I KNOW THE CAT POOPED IN THE SHOWER AGAIN!!!!!!!!! HE DOES IT ALL THE TIME! I'm really sorry about that by the way.
Hey back, Drew! You're quite welcome! I was actually editing the blogs before we posted them, and I wanted to make sure AE didn't go forgotten, as that was one of a handful of books I eagerly awaited each month last year.
I should also mention:
1) I just got the AE trade today to replenish the AE-sized hole in my collection since I gave my singles to a friend I just got into comics. The trade looks gorgeous, btw, and the website add-ins in the back are sweet as well.
2) E.G.A.D.S. (The Evil Genius Appreciation/Devotion Society) just got a MySpace group this week, and I'm hoping mutual MySpace friend Amelia Mangan can write up Vincent for the Hall of Fame (jazzier name pending), as apparently we both love our men tall, bespectacled, and evil and I already wrote up DC's Calculator. You know how it goes (or something like that?)..
mr. melbourne! I miss the days of working side-by-side with you! Do you wanna join up? You can work right near TPR again like I do... tempting, I know. Anyway...hope you are well. I am so proud of your comic book's success! YAY!
