Joy is a singer/songwriter who has spent her entire life chasing the music muse. She started plunking around on an old upright piano at five years old and was hooked from there. She learned music in school bands and church choirs, by listening to her older siblings' records and by playing out with bands over the years. She spent several years with Hot Cargo and even rocked with the Dayton garage band Therica. In addition to DRIFT, she also performs with the local band 4 Now and makes solo acoustic appearances from time to time. According to Joy, "I'm a free spirit inhabiting this energy field for the duration of my assignment. I find myself on a continuing quest to define my purpose, follow its path and remain true to the intuition that guides me...but, way down deep inside...I JUST WANNA ROCK!"
Terry Monk - Vocals & Guitar
Terry's family moved to Ohio from Tennessee and he grew up in The Miami Valley. Terry started playing guitar at the age of 10. His parents were singers and his dad a singing teacher. Terry has attended many concerts following his love of music. To quote Terry "I cant hear very well now, but... Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd were great!" He loves experimental, original and a wide variety of musical artists. Terry is also an accomplished, professional artist. He majored in art at Franklin High School and then received his BFA at The College Of The Dayton Art Institute in Dayton, Ohio. "I Just want To Play! and keep it FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!"
Dan Campbell - Vocals & Percussion
Dan has been playing drums for 7 years and has recently started working on his guitar chops. His influences are wide spread: Frank Zappa, Buddy Rich, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Pearl Jam... just to name a few. Drift is the first band Dan has played with, but he also belongs to the Dayton-based jam band, F8, as their guitarist and lead vocalist. In his own words, "I don't think I could ask for a better group of friends to jam with!"
Bill Russel - Vocals & Bass
Bill was born a poor white boy in 1963 and was a military brat most of his life. He has always loved music and is influenced by B.B. King, Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. He started playing the bass for fun and now it has evolved into Drift. Bill gives thanks to his family for their patience, encouragement and love, as well as to the band for keeping it together and still having fun after all these years!
Dave Lahti - Guitar
Born in a working class family, Dave grew up in the area between Milwaukee and Chicago. He's been playing guitar since 1979 and has many musical influences. He loves various styles, including Rock, Blues and Folk. He's had many great sessions with different musicians throughout the years. Dave made Ohio his home in 1985. To quote Dave, "May the gods give us one more Saturday Night!" Dave loves to play!
