Drive by Punch attack emo like it's the final boss standing between them and video game glory; they are a band who play like they hold nothing back, like they've got nothing to lose and nothing to look forward to after the end of the song. One could argue that this aspect of Drive by Punch's music is where the punk influence comes in; they have a pseudo-nihilistic quality in which nothing matters besides the draining emotional release of whatever song they're currently playing. They're the kind of band who would smash their equipment three songs into their set, forgetting their obligation to play more after they've reached the climax of their emotional outpour. Even when they play comparatively softly, such as on the intricately picked intro to "Pull," Drive by Punch teem with an aggression that is almost wholly absent from the music of their emo peers. It's pointless to search for comparisons within the genre, as this kind of energy is almost wholly unprecedented. And Drive by Punch are smart enough to understand that the kind of frustration their music constantly hints at cannot be purged merely by a Marshall amplifier with every knob turned to ten. So what do they do? They stay just on the edge of the precipice, articulating the thrill of the hunt rather than the inevitable disappointment of the catch.

I swear to god, the rain smells like your bedroom... A line that gives shivers every time it's uttered. Through playing with them, we have become very close friends with the boys from Drive By Punch. But, friendships aside, they are a band that never siece to amaze us and any other spectator whenever they play. DBP combines a pop sensibility with a blazing technical prowess unmatched. Tastefully written songs, more hooks than a tackle box, and an honest inkling of heart-broken angst are what make this band stand out amongst the typically generic bands of this continuously growing genre.
Drive By Punch utilize four part vocal harmonies, a relentless stage show, and a full spectrum of highs and lows dynamically. An abundance of energy radiates from the stage as they play, which is completely overwhelming to every sense. Although the personality of each member always shines through, the sound of the band remains focused and deliberate. These boys are creating something that they truly love, and this is remarkably apparent.
This quintet continues to win over new fans on every outing, and with the song writing growing continuously stronger, there is no foreseeable end to the sonic perfection that is Drive By Punch.
