Ladies, gentleman, established members of the community, scene kids, and MySpace whores:
We are gathered here today to mourn the loss of our favorite musical ensemble, Drive Like July. But before
we get into that, let us define what Drive Like July really was. In the dictionary, the word 'drive' is defined "to
frighten or prod cattle into moving in a desired direction", the word 'like' is defined "to feel attraction toward or
take pleasure in", and the word 'July' is defined "the seventh month of the Gregorian calendar." So what do we
get when we put these three words together? I really don't fucking know. But I do know that when these three
words are combined, you are in for a treat.
DLJ is comprised of five key elements:
First off we have Ryan, the sassy front man who don't take no guff from nobody.
Then we have Chuck, this songstress with the grace of a swan flows through each song like dew on a leaf in
early Spring.
Next we have Jeff, who provides a pounding bass rhythm section, and from time to time has been known to
create some tom-foolery.
Next we have Derek, he plays drums.
And lastly we have the newest member of the band, Tony. What can be said about Tony that hasn't already
been said about New Jersey... he stinks, and he plays guitar upside down.
But DLJ isn't about the members, it's about the music, that these five members have crafted over the past two
years. You have to look deeper inside the songs to find their true, and thought-provoking meanings. It's not
about taking a tumble while skiing down a black diamond, it's not about fishtailing cars, right into the
neighbors fence, it's not about the big dipper, it's about finding a greater sense of hope and being, and
maybe, just maybe, one day we will discover the secrets locked inside of DLJ's music.
Maybe it won't hit you tonight, maybe not tomorrow morning, but one day you are going to wake up and realize
there isn't a Drive Like July anymore, so enjoy this evening, for it will be the last time that our good friends DLJ
will ever play their songs for us. If you take one thing away from their music, let it be this... maybe you too can
find yourself an elf.

Drive Like July is fucking DEAD
It's been so much fun for us. But sadly Drive Like July will soon cease to be. There's no hard feelings about
this and we love you all enough to be honest. We all have our lives to tend to at the moment and realize that
Drive Like July is not the best thing for us all right now. Everyone has to just do whats best for them and this is
whats best for us as a whole. We want to thank everyone, EVERYONE who ever came to a show. Drive Like
July always tried to give you a treat, a little something special. Stay tuned, because the music doesn't die
here. Watch out for what we all come up with next. We'd like to give special thanks to Steve Foote, Shot
Heard Around The World, and Lannen Fall for always being so good to us
We will be playing our final show at the KINGSTON KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS on May 18th. with Lannen Fall,
Shot Heard Around The World, Interrobang, and Gunshot Wound. Were gunna play ALL of our songs and just
have a good time and give you all we have left. Theres no crying in Rock.
We love you, how could we not
Drive Like July
Based out of Quincy, MA, DLJ has spent the last two years dishing out their spin on rock to Greater Boston
Area and beyond. Starting with just Greg, Matt and Ryan, DLJ spent this first year and a half finding the perfect
bassist and drummer to complete the band. Thus, Jeff and Derek were found. Since then Matt has stepped
aside to focus on family and school and work behind the scenes of DLJ. Anthony was then picked up as
Matt’s replacement and he has fallen into place seamlessly. Together these five gents combine the speed and
raw power of punk with the melodic guitarmonies of late 80s metal together with catchy, story-like lyrics and
come up with what some are calling "addictive", "amazingly energetic" and downright "awesome!"
