Drive was born in January 2007, when Peter, Ivan and Tinu who had been in another band (Unstable) for about 3 years decided to leave to form a new band with a new style. We met singer Matthew who was at the time searching for a band with our style. At first Matt was playing guitar in some songs and keyboards in others but in order to be more focused on singing we phoned long time friend Jonas (who use to play with Ivan about 5 years ago in their first band ever) and asked him to join the band as second guitarist. He accepted straight away. Lately Drive suffered a huge blow when drummer Tinu decided to leave Malta for a year to continue his studies abroad. Although this loss was hard to accept we knew we had to move on and search for a new drummer and luckily we found Raphael...a very energetic drummer with a huge passion for classic rock.
Our main focus is writing orignals. When writing, we try to write songs with classic rock roots but with a modern touch. We don't have a single songwriter in the band, each member comes up with ideas and together we build a song on these ideas. This way each original sounds different because altough we all love classic rock, we still have different styles in our playing and songwriting, and the mixture is....well you can listen to our tracks :) We are currently working on more material and are recording some new tracks.
As i said before, though our main focus is writing orignals our cover list consits of works from Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Krokus, ACDC, Scorpions, Motley Crue, Guns n' Roses and other classic legends.
