Quite simply, DrivingOnCitySidewalks was formed out of a genuine love for music. Barry started
recording music in his basement about a year and a half ago. Seeing as how he played drums,
and guitar it seemed like it only made sense to lay down music tracks, and build songs from those
sessions. Luckily enough the small indie label Red Plane Records from France stumbled upon the
Canadians music on MySpace, and from that point on, a friendship was struck, and DrivingOnCitySidewalks
released the song "To Finish the Race" on the Red Plane Records Volume 3 Compilation CD.
After this point, early in 2007, Red Plane asked if DrivingOnCitySidewalks would release a limited run EP
through them. Which is where Darryl comes on the scene. Darryl and Barry have been friends for a while
jamming together years ago. Nothing really came of that though, as Darryl went away to school, and Barry
started his family with his wife. Fast forward 7 years, and Darryl is finished school, Barry has three wonderful
kids with his amazing wife, and the two have teamed up again under DrivingOnCitySidewalks.
The debut EP will be out February 2008 and it will be co-released under Red Plane Records in France, and Count Your lucky Stars records in USA/Canada. CYLS was started in 2008 by the amazing Michigan band empire! empire! (i was a lonely estate). e!e! and DOCS have had a friendship for over a year now, and we're totally amazed that they asked us to be a part of what they're starting.

Hey Barry! They're actually playing in San Francisco. I need to check the dates again. I"m going to a couple of festivals out there. I'll definitely let you know if I catch a show. :)
How funny. Thats exactly how i discovered them! I think I have all the emo diaries. I've only seen appleseed twice. But, Chris's side project Old Canes is coming out with a new album on Oct 20 which i'm super excited about and there's supposed to be a west coast tour. And i will be there! :)
Yes. I've been a huge Appleseed Cast fan for years! I can hear some of their influence in your songs. I was absorbing your vibe last night. good dreamy stuff. x
Actually our demos are only available at shows for the time being, but we are in the process of recording our first full length and label shopping as well. Thank you for the kind words and support! You guys are really awesome as well. Beautiful sounds!
haha, I completely understand. The other band that me and the bassist are in, everyone else has full time jobs and three of them are married so I'm all to familiar with the "being a grown up thing." Either way, once you guys start playing shows, let us know. It would be great to work something out!

I knew you guys were a two piece, but I guess I just assumed you did samples or something to play live. Hopefully you find a band soon! Maybe sometime with a little more planning if you don't get a backing band, we could do a tour together and we could be your backing band.
Actually, the s/t full length will be our first release. But it's coming along great. I also have music for another full length, so we might start recording that once school gets out.
We are about 6 hours from Detroit. So obviously that is pretty far for a single trip, but if you can find another stop along the way, like in Pittsburgh, then it would be great to set something up. Let us know as soon as possible if you come up with a tour plan, because we set up house shows, but we can't do it to often so dates get filled up quickly.
