Dr Meaker is Clive Meaker, 29. 17/01/1980. shoe size: 8 and a half.
After performing with his 7- piece live band at Glastonbury, Bestival, Glade and Maida Vale Studios, Dr Meaker releases his eagerly awaited debut Album.
A Lesson From the Speaker, Dr Meaker's debut album, takes one of Britain’s most exciting live dance acts - from the dance floor, field or tent - and brings it to your ipod.
Bristol’s hottest producer uses soul, jazz and reggae influences to create the Meaker sound. A sound of sublime vocals and ruff-cut bass licks that feels as at home on commercial radio, as it does at underground clubs.
The album has been 3 years in the making and features collaborations with vocalist Yolanda Quartey who's currently on tour with Massive Attack. Meaker’s master blending sees him sampling The Korgis Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime on the track Need Love. This is just one of the great surprises in store as you journey through the album.
Accolades include:
Winning BBC’s New Talent Urban Bursary Award 2006;
Winning the Glastonbury Festival Unsigned Dance Act Award 2007
BBC Radio 1 - Gods of the Pods 2007
Performed a live session at Maida Vale studios for BBC Radio 1 - June 2008;
Radio support from Zane Lowe, Pete Tong, Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens, and Mista Jam;
….it is no wonder Dr Meaker has been dubbed "Brilliant” by Michael Eavis and "The heir apparent to Massive Attack's ongoing legacy", by Venue magazine.
Dr Meaker’s debut album A Lesson from the Speaker, is out now in all good record stores and online.
