Mofessor, aka, MAURICE "MO" McCONNELL has been a solid fixture on the Northwest music scene for 29 years. A masterful piano player blended with a rich soulful voice Mofessor is a man of extraordinary talents who's distinct style stands out.
Mofessor has teamed up with such great performers as Bill Rhoades, Ellen Whyte, Jesse Sampsel, Paul Delay, Thomas Mapfumo, Deb Cleveland, Jim Wallace, Floyd Dickson, Big Monte, Kelly Thibodeaux and The Etouffee Band, Henry Cooper and many other great acts as far back as 1976.
Having recorded and toured nationally and internationally several times, mainly as a sideman Mofessor took the next logical step forming the band "MOFESSOR" in 2003, releasing his first CD named for his original hit song "RED HOT BOOGIE", affirming his abilities for song writing and arranging. Mofessor has brought together the most talented performers in the area. Mofessor's all star line up includes STAN BECRAFT on Bass (Big Monte), TIM DONAHUE at the drums (Cherry Poppin Daddies, Yngwie Malmsteen) and MAURICE "MOFESSOR" McCONNELL playing Piano/keyboards, Guitar, Vocals and Harmonica. On occasion Mofessor has featured guest performers into the show such as Mike Meyer, Josh Fulero and other top NW musicians.
Mofessor has been a treat for his fans every where. His styles and inspirations move from a Longhair New Orleans groove and Chicago Otis Spann boogie to a Thelonious Monk and Herbie Hancock jazzy beat . Mofessor can expand on any kind of music, using his unique abilities to take a song in any direction, turn it inside out, then bring it back to where it started from. Mofessor will immerce you in groove-heavy gumbo's of Chicago blues to the swampy New Orleans rhythms or funky R&B, bringing you up out of your chair and onto the dance floor. Besides the band "Mofessor" Maurice currently performs with Satin Love Orchestra, RMS McConnell, Monti Amundson(Big Monti), Kelly Thibodeaux and The Etouffee Band, The Vipers, and Miriams Well.
