ISOLATED was put together between 2001 and 2003, and is the original primary collection of Dr Nigel material. Most of the music was written in the wake of 9/11, amidst various phases of anthrax scares and warfare. The tone reflects the dualities of nature, humanity, science, and existence.

Produced, Engineered, Mixed and Mastered by Dr Nigel
All instruments by Dr Nigel except:

SOCIOLOGY EXPERIMENT was the first planned Dr Nigel LP release. The music continues the occasionally-off-kilter nature of 2003's 'Isolated', but in a slightly different direction. Much of the album is derived from found sound - samples gathered from a pocket recorder & layered into a recording.
'Reconcile' is a remix of Amun Ra's "Family Portrait" (BMI) (Larson, Shirley, 2005)
'All I Say' was written with nothing but a microphone, vocal chords & some fx.

Vocals on "Spare Change" and "All in Your Mind": Kerry Schneider

SEEING IN SQUARES was the first printed EP release of Dr Nigel. 1,000 copies were produced and distributed by various means. The tracks reflect varied styles but carry a common flavor: narrative electronica. Many of the tracks suggest the need for visual accompaniment, considering the presence of found sound, ambient backgrounds and choices of tone and timbre.

DIABOLIK - ILL DEVICES came about as a reaction to my revelation of dubstep music. I used FL Studio to create beats up around 138-140, with similar break patterns I'd been feeling with dubstep. I added ambient backdrops to a few tracks (e.g. 'Mineralz') to pull away from the frantic nature of the beat and yield a more evocative undernote.
released 03 October 2004
Original release 10/3/04 -- revised 2007
(c) 2004, 2007 Neil G. Larson (BMI)
All instruments, production, mixing, mastering: Dr Nigel, except:

DR NIGEL'S DOWNTEMPO DUBS was written between 2004 and 2006, and released (printed and distributed) during the summer of 2006. The album reflects a more soulful edge, and embraces elements of trip-hop, illbient and deep bass. 'Improvisation 3' uses samples from an improvised piano session I recorded at Emerson College in 2005.
released 20 July 2006

Live:
Since 2002 Dr Nigel has performed live at over 300 events with many notable bands, musicians and DJ acts. During the 1990s and early 2000s, Dr Nigel's primary live focus was on guitar, with bands including "On The Flipside". In 2002 Nigel made the switch to keyboards, and became involved with live ambient rock act Amun Ra, and electronic dance act Nikulydin.
From 2002 - 2006, Amun Ra recorded two albums and played countless shows over the Northeast US, before parting ways amicably in spring 2006. Meanwhile Nikulydin morphed into Psylab in 2005, and began headlining raves, dance parties, open-air festivals, and regional Burning Man events. Psylab is currently working on a studio album, slated for fall 2008 release.
In early 2007 Nigel was invited to perform with acclaimed drummer Johnny Rabb and bassist Clay Parnell in the form of live drum'n'bass act BioDiesel. The resulting performance became a legendary event and yielded a highly-traded recording.
