Brian's Interests
General
Writing, playing guitar, homebrewing beer,(and, of course, drinking it), golf, reading when I have time and cooking for friends.
Music
I am probably Fleetwood Mac's biggest fan. Actually, I love music and have a pretty eclectic taste for most styles; with the possible exception of hip-hop. Try as I might, I just can't find any redeemable quality to it.
The sixties and seventies were probably my favorite era for music, BTO and Del Shannon in particular. I guess mainly because, as the saying goes, that was back in the day.
Movies
Young Frankenstein, (all Mel Brooks movies), almost any horror movie, Good Fellas, Key Largo, The African Queen, The Cider House Rules, Waking Ned Devine, Joe Dirt and, once a year without fail, It's A Wonderful Life.
Television
I don't watch much TV, but when I do, it's usually AMC or TCM, The History Channel if there's a good documentary on, Deadliest Catch, Family Guy and South Park, (may God forgive me for that one).
Books
The DaVinci code, anything by Robin Cook, Steven King, (with the exception of the Dark Tower series), Angela's Ashes and all things medical.
Heroes
My Grandfather; a man who came to this country with nothing but the shirt on his back, yet managed to leave a legacy of love and strength that will carry on for generations.
When I'm not keeping the bill collectors at bay, toiling at my day job, I write.
My latest book, "Born Bent Over: Flashing the Vertical Smile at Middle-Age," is, finally, safely in my publisher's hands. If all goes well, it will be available through Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com in the September 2008 time frame. I may be bragging just a little, but this book is guaranteed to get belly laughs from anyone approaching middle age, suffering through middle age, or who may be beyond middle age and looking back on all the indignities, medical horrors and relationship blues common to the over-forty set. Everything from mid-life crises to colonoscopy is laid out in vivid, light hearted detail. If you think you've got it rough, just read "Born Bent Over" and laugh along as a forty-something deals with the day to day nightmares of middle age. Keep in mind as you laugh along that you, too, will be assimilated. It may be a few years away, but middle-age is a condition that is visited upon everyone. The alternative is unthinkable!
My last book, The Paramedic, was a two year labor of love, and my first attempt at the contemporary erotic romance genre. It was a long stretch from my first book, The Tenderfoot's Guide to Family Camping.
When I'm not working or writing, I spend a great deal of time trying to make the fixer-upper home I bought two years ago, habitable. I might have a better chance at making the New York Times best seller list.
In my spare time, I play guitar. I have a small recording studio set up in my house and, when the mood strikes, I knock out a few songs I've managed to scribble down over the years.
I'm single. I tried marriage but it just didn't work out. To my great fortune, I have two beautiful children; my oldest is 22 and on his own. My youngest is now 16 and the apple of her daddy's eye.
I love to cook and BBQ so no one on Atkins is safe at one of my BBQ's or poker games. I'm Italian and learned to cook authentic Italian dishes directly from the source. My Mom could make shoe leather taste like ambrosia.
I'm on the web at www.bgreenleaf.com if you'd like to read some of my short stories or read more about The Paramedic.
And, for your dining and dancing pleasure, my little greasy spoon diner, authorsden.com is open 24/7. Antacids served with every entree.
Who I'd like to meet:
Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy for a night on the town. I'd really love to party with those two.
Sandra Bullock because, frankly, she's one of the most beautiful women I'll never meet.
