About me:
Dr. Obsidian was a pulp science hero who achieved considerable fame before a series of bad breaks left him in obscurity. He was created in 1937 by Leo Krilleg as a daily newspaper character and was quickly optioned by Brazen Pictures as a low budget serial to compete with the weekly offerings of Republic and Monogram Studios.
The doctor - in the guise of a quiet crime lab scientist - would use his incredible knowledge of (somewhat dated and questionable) science to solve crimes and take on dangerous criminal opponents - usually ones appearing to deal in the occult.
The doctor's trenchcoat concealed a strength and speed enhancing “external-skeleton” and his goggles could track heat and radiation. Perhaps most amazing of all was his “electronic brain”, a machine in his laboratory programmed with every fighting style known to man, capable of formulating a winnable strategy for any fight scenario plugged into it, no matter the odds or disadvantages.
While limited by a non-existent budget, the serial was filled with energy, skilled direction and robust performances.
Just a regular guy using his personal fortune and the principles of science to fight crime...
