Thrash Metal: Extreme music, life philosophy, reality, power, energy, DRONE!
The members of the North German band live their music and spice it up with power and technical excellence. Frontman Moritz Hempel outlines his influences: “We see ourselves as a modern metal band. You can hear a lot of different styles of metal in our sound as well as some modern and old school metal. At the same time we orienteer ourselves towards the sound of the Bay Area Scene and bands like Testament, Mastodon and Pantera.” With this illustrious mixture and a lot of ambition, as well as unquestionable devotion, Drone has developed into one of the most promising new European Thrash Metal bands. In March 2009 their second masterpiece Juggernaut was released through Wacken Records/SPV and documented an unmistakable further development of this highly talented Band, who have a bright future ahead of them.
After winning the international Wacken Metal Battle in August 2006, their debut Head-On Collision and the many highlights from the previous years- including festivals like Wacken 2006, 2007, 2009, With Full Force 2008, Metal Camp 2008, Inferno (Norway) 2008, Summer Breeze 2008 and Metal Mania (Czech Republic and Poland) 2008 - Drone show with Juggernaut (the title is a synonym for an unstoppable power, which destroys everything in its path) that the end of the road is a far way off. Nevertheless, the band members remain composed and true to their ideals. Moritz Hempel: “We cannot reinvent Metal and that’s not our goal. We wanna have fun and do things our way. Horns Up!”
