In early 1988, in the wake of their new wave/modern music effort, UHF, Bob Noxious, Bradley Damaged, and Ric Havoc went three-piece and formed Drool. They saw the emerging hair-band phenomenon as an opportunity to return to their hard rock roots. While other bands in Salt Lake at the time were still playing rock covers from the late '70s, Drool jumped headlong into the '90s, playing original songs with an alternative metal and grunge feel, even before that sound had escaped Seattle and the other places in which it was incubating. The members of Drool paid their dues for a year or so, opening up for other bands, many of whose cover tunes began to focus on the late '80s hair bands (and, to be honest, Drool took what it liked from that movement also). By 1990, Drool was headlining shows around Salt Lake and developing a large, loyal following. Road trips throughout the West came with the territory, as did attempts to capture the energy of their live shows on tape (four such attempts are set forth above). By 1991, critics were calling the sonic assault from this tornado of long, black hair, black leather, and green jewels, "a breath of fresh air." The non-stop party went on for over three years, but by the end of 1992, each member was facing opportunities in their personal lives for careers, family, etc., and it seemed natural to wrap up their careers as musicians and pursue loftier goals. It would be ten more years before Drool played again, by invitation, during the 2002 Olympics. That night, a fantastic trip down memory lane, was made unbelievably sweet by the hundreds of fans that showed up, many wearing their old black and green "Drink 'til you Drool" t-shirts. And the Drool boys did not disappoint; they never had. That being said, as a long-time local band, we always have and will always continue to support local bands everywhere. We invite and encourage you to click on the banners below or go through our friends and check out the local bands there. We thank you and I'm sure they will. The first banner is ours, of course; feel free to copy and paste the code below it and put it on your page. Thanks for everything. Peace.
