Droptear Modelmaker are a collective of musicians that play an eclectic mix of jazz-jungle and drum n bass with a good measure of chill out thrown in.
Initially just one man and a laptop, the band has gradually expanded to a point where they feature bass, drums, vocals, guitar and trumpet. Although that's not to say the laptop is going anywhere...
The aim of Droptear Modelmaker's live show is to play their brand of ambient electronica, whilst keeping a live, organic feel to the music.
Starting with an almost purely electronic full length album "mannequin", the band moved to a more instrument based sound on the three track EP "extended play" including trumpet and bass alongside drum machines and synths.
For their third and most recent EP "background noise", the band came to its full line-up, bringing in guitar, live drums and vocals. With heavy practising and more influence from bands such as Jaga Jazzist and The Cinematic Orchestra, they reworked the songs from "extended play" and added two more, focusing much more on live performance.
The future of Droptear Modelmaker involves lots of performance, bringing in yet more instrumentation; violin, acoustic, percussion, and in time another EP.
