Born in Lebanon in 1980 from a Lebanese father and a Belgian mother, Dr. SigMa (Stéphanie Merchak) started to learn piano at 11. She later took lessons in solfeggio, musical theory, harmony, counterpoint...
After finishing high school, she went to Lebanese University to pursue studies in musical education and graduated in 2002. Then, at USEK University, she followed courses in various music related subjects (musical analysis, musical languages, acoustics, instrumentation and orchestration...).
Between 1999 and 2001, she played electric bass guitar in an Arabic music band.
Between 2002 and 2004, she sang in USEK choir (repertoire including Vivaldi, Mozart, Dvorak...).
She has been composing electronic music since 2004.
