About me: Burlesque Power Duo Miss Lolly Pop & Larry The Panty Boy are thrilled to bring to Music City Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art School! What is Dr Skethcy's you ask ....
Dr. Sketchy's is what happens when cabaret meets art school. Dr. Sketchy's is the little Brooklyn event that became a movement. Founded in 2005 by artist Molly Crabapple, Dr. Sketchy's asked a simple question. Why can't drawing half naked people be sexy?
We will have gorgeous women, musclemen, sideshow freaks and geeks. Then we let you draw them for three hours! Grab a seat $10, Grab a drink, Listen to some tunes and Draw Draw Draw!!! Mixed in with all that will be ridiculous drawing contests where you can win alcohol and fancy prizes from local retailers.
From it's humble Brooklyn beginnings, Dr. Sketchy's now has 63 branches around the globe, including Hollywood, London, Tokyo, Rome, Melbourne and now Nashville.

The point is this isn't your typical life drawing class. Here, the drawing sessions are about opening your mind, pushing the envelope, encompassing the model's personality and uniqueness, fun contests and having a fun time. It's also about joining various aspects of our city's culture to benefit of everyone!
Four years ago, as a broke art school drop-out Molly Crabapple set up Dr Sketchys, the anti-art school, as a social gathering in Brooklyn. Now a sought after fine artist, comics creator and illustrator in her own right, Dr Sketchy's has spread to over 80 cities and has grown from an event, to a movement. Weekly, droves of artists and amateurs alike swarm to these experiences internationally to draw glamorous underground personalities from burlesque dancers to fetish models to drag queens. We talk to Molly about what makes Dr Sketchy's unique and how she controls the creative vision from above.

The Nashville Dr. Sketchy's always likes to meet the following:
- Interested models! Are you a derby girl, burlesque performer, body builder, comic book geek, bartender, muscle man, drag performer, magician or circus freak? We'd like YOU to be our model for a session of Dr. Sketchy's! It doesn't matter what you look like as long as you're up for the challenge of posing for a room of art monkey's for 3 hours or so wearing your most interesting and flamboyant costume (or lack there of)! Oh did I mention we pay you money to do this!!!
- Interested sponsors! Do you have free stuff that you just have to give away? We're looking for gift certificates, booze, comics, t-shirts, taxidermy animals, cds, concert tickets - whatever you want (or don't want, as the case may be)! In return you get free adverstising!!
- Performers! Can you play the fiddle while standing on your head? Do you eat fire? Are you under the impression you can do stand-up? Dr. Sketchy's Nashville loves good half-time entertainment, and if you'd be interested in showing off your talents for us, we'd love to have you!
- ART MONKEYS! Are you an artist, or do you want to be one? Art monkeys of all skill levels are invited to attend Dr. Sketchy's Nashville - Students-Bring your teachers! Teachers-Bring your students!
