Drumatic (Dead Metropolis Rec., Phunkfiction, Santorin)

Drumatic did his first steps into music in the age of 15 (1999). He was inspired by the growing vinyl-collection of his brother DJ Angel Dust, the legendary „Reload“ german dnb-radioshow on evosonic (hosted by Bassface Sascha) and of course the evolving dnb scene in his hometown Chemnitz. He loves and alway loved all styles of urban, independent, mostly electronic music.

In his teenage years he felt in love with East-Coast-HipHop especially the sharp productions of legendary dj Premier, he was impressed by Bjork's innovative „Homogenic“ Album, and got mad about the first drum&bass records he heard, dj Zinc's uplifting „Super Sharp Shooter“ or Johnny L's frightening „Piper“ Different to most of the artists he firstly started to produce. Sandro, so his real name, experimented with tripHop, downbeat and nearly every kind of electronic music under his former alias „Sandroid“.

Over the years, his tunes came closer to his vision of how it should sound and feel, so in summer 2002 he took the next step and started to spin the wheels of steel. In the beginning he was appealed by techy and rolling tracks, cause4concern, black sun empire and of course ed rush & optical were denizens in his eardrum.

But more & more he got infected by the soulful vibes from the ones of Marcus Intalex & ST Files, Calibre, High Contrast, Matrix and Labels like Soul:R, Signature, Commercial Suicide and of course Hospital Recordings.

In spring 2k2 sure & drumatic had the idea to bring their own productions to the masses, they founded the live-collabo „Creative Urge“ for which they produce drum&bass-tracks und perform them live – for instance in summer 2002 and the following years on the SPLASH! Festival, Europe's biggest HipHop & Reggae-Festival

His music is focussed on deepness & soul, but they don't get lost in cheesyness or clichès. Drumatic always exhausts his ideas to the maximum – he is a perfectionist. his tracks are very detailled and colourful. Every time you hear his tunes you discover a new part, a new sound or a new twist. they stand out from the typical club-related arrangement and of-the-shelf tuneage.

His music is influenced by jazz and soul samples and deep synth-lines and sounds, molten together, cutted, re-arranged to a new vibe, groovy, broken beats and playful basslines.

He released on labels like phunkfiction (phunk005 – drumatic – wrong means right / the specialist (2005)) santorin (drumatic – lord of lords – san004cd (2006)) and of course dead metropolis recordings (dm004 – sandroid – strength (2003) dm003 – creative urge – mondays / concrete direction (2003)) Check out his „Sleeveless EP“ upcoming on Break the Surface Rec.
