Have you heard of something called “DrumClub”? Check this out:
What is DrumClub?
DrumClub is an event put together once a month by Jéan Gabriel and Matthew Marinus, to get talented drummers together, to network with each other and to have a serious jam session!
How does the event unfold?
The event begins with Drum kits being setup in a big circle, Matthew Marinus hosts a rigorous warm-up leaving everyone breathless and sweating!! Shortly after that, we do something called "Idea Swapping", where we all gather around as a DrumClub Member demonstrates his idea for the month, it could be anything from a drum solo to a technical exercise, anything goes!! The ideas are written out and everyone gets a photocopy to take home and to practice for themselves!! Each Drummer shares their idea on their drum kit, one after the other.
Jean Gabriel Hosts the Jam Session where all the drummers play a different part at the same time with all the drummers showing their individual talent, for the people who are watching the event take place, they see and hear a stage full of drum kits and drummers, it's breathtaking!!!
The event is photographed and Video Taped, all the video footage from warm up to jam session is put onto a DVD and the photos and excerpts of the video are loaded onto the DrumClub webpage!! All the Drummers get to share their passion in their own way for drums, at the end of the event they have several new ideas to try out, exposure on the web for everyone to see and a Live DVD of all the action!!
How do you join or get involved?
Anyone is welcome to attend, if you’re an individual remotely interested in drumming, DrumClub is for you and you’re welcome to bring your friends and family along too!!
If you’re looking to start playing drums and you’ve never played before, DrumClub is the place to be to meet Drum Teachers and to see them in action. What about drummers who have been to lessons for a few years and consider themselves to be at a novice to intermediate level? DrumClub is the place to be to learn new ideas and to ask questions, find out what other drummers are working on in the practice room etc… For the advanced to Professional guys, you’re able to share your talents, make connections and contacts and to learn from the other many advanced and professionals already performing at DrumClub. Every member at the end of the day will have multiple opportunities to perform for the other members at the events, each event will involve different drummers up on stage showcasing different ideas, and different jam sessions, and other members will be there to learn in the audience.
We recommend coming to watch the next event to see for yourselves!!
Check out all the Video Clips and photos from the last few events.
