I normally dont answer that question.I suppose anything really in a rock style; I grew up as a kid listening to my uncles 70's music then I went with trends as a teenager.The eighties were so full of various styles from pop to punk to new wave to indie, and the list of bands is endless when it comes down to a particular style of drumming for me; smiths, echoe and the bunnymen, big country[super drummer], ska, mod, omd, brian adams,
clash, s.l.f., police, u2, simple minds, keane, snow patrol, indie, chilli peppers, bruce springstein
rem,jam, weller, blue october, etc etc, every year theres an explosion of new bands and new styles and always new challenges, thats the beauty of DRUMMING;
Like I said mostly anything " EXCEPT" HEAVY METAL, unless im being paid,
RAP, if I change brotherhood, DISCO, if I find a time machine, LOL !! Seriously though there isnt a lot I wouldnt play.
Im constantly learning and with double base drums theres an endless amount of new ideas and techniques to be mastered. I take it in my stride, and i love to teach, to see young and old students excell;
I LIVE TO PLAY AND HOPE TO PLAY FOR A LOT MORE YEARS TO COME;
Hello there my name is Phil,I live in kimmage, dublin, ireland. Ive been playing drums forever and a donkeys year!! I studied drumming under john Murray at the drum school in Camden street as a young lad for a couple of years. I played in a couple of bands in the 80's and early 90's and had a blast, we played in all of dublins best venues and managed to do some recording as well. I offer drum lessons in the comfort of your own home, yes i said your own home, Im currently teaching students of various ages with very successful results. I offer a non teacher/student class room approach which firstly creates a much more relaxed environment, its one to one and much more enjoyable and easy to pick up. i dont enphasise too much on the music as much as i should at first but i find with the basic notation my students excell in both drumming and later reading. i dont mind travelling within reason and i do accept block bookings. there is no kit required to begin with, and i offer very reasonable rates considering you sit on your drumming butt and i come to you!!
you are never too young and certainly never too old to start, and never too late to pick it up where you left off.
I am also currently looking for a new project / band to get into, maybe abroad, or maybe some session work.
