Since the advent a few years ago because of the compilation series as Viñedos and The soul es una Droga, and more recently Sensational soul, vibrations and Underground Papagayo, interest has grown to regain the Spanish pop recordings of the sixties and seventies. Melenudos (available on CD and LP) follows this path and brings together fifteen songs drawn from obscure soul singles, beat, freakbeat and garage. Singers and musicians of different nationalities were very important to the Spanish music scene of the sixties and in Melenudos there are some examples. On the one hand, the African American singer Eddie Lee Mattison, whose instrumental orchestra interprets "Grey frog." On the other hand, Shelly and the New Generation, a combo with Venezuelan singer who has often been compared to Julie Driscoll & The Trinity and which has included the theme "Devil woman."
Among the best known artists are Alfonso Santiesteban, brain gray of Calibre 38, or Lorenzo Santamaria "frontman" who sang "Wake me" in front of the Z-66. A "delicatessen" for Spanish archaeologists pop. It is amazing how songs that continue to appear worthwhile to be remembered and compiled into discs like this.
