Sounds Like
drums and bass playing quietly loudly slowly quickly ambiently rhythmically melodically harmonically cacophonically together and apart from one another in a room with people with eyes watching and preferably ears listening.
What may be termed purely a live project, DrumVsBass is improvisational music made with drums and bass free of genres. DrumVsBass attempts to transcend jam session wankery by creating music that is not classifiably funk, nor jazz, nor metal, nor electronic, but borrows heavily from these genres to create a unique experience from one show to the next. there is little or no rehearsed material.
Shows include mARTy electr(on)ic bass with a rotating list of drummers with various styles that will greatly influence the outcome of the music for the evening.
'Songs' (if they can be called songs) that will be presented on this site, are from the forthcoming studio EP that mARTy has been working on by himself for far too long, and will be available December 2008!!!

Smarty Party Marty . . . I listen to the CD almost every day. It hasn't come out of my stereo (actually it BOOMS out of my stereo) since I got it . . . "for my Old School Friends".. I remember from when you handed me the CONTRABAND ( now there's a band name ;) from the back of the van under the street light in the alley. This CD rocks and then slowly rolls out in waves in at least eight different ways, and I'm still only scratching away at the surface. NO scratching the CD! ;) Marty . . . it's really good . . . the ideas transcend; you put the concept and yours down to sound. GOOD on you!
Dude, I had a phenomenal time at your CD release party for the DrumVsBass album, Inferno!!! As much as I love the studio tracks . . . LIVE; that was one of the best shows I've seen (..I've seen a lot of shows). Awesome.
I miss ya. Why have we not gotten together for coffee? In addition why haven't you been letting me know where you have been playing so that I can come and stalk you properly?
Long live Satan,
~Dumb Bitch~

Please forgive this small mass-message-type comment, but we just want to tell everyone about our latest project: "DIG YOUR ROOTS - CREATIVE JAZZ". hey marty, you ever hear that holdsworth record "heavy machinery"? he's playing with yngwie's rhythm section, the johansson brothers. totally sick but very ethereal and funky fusion. banana peel rhythms abound.
hahaha yes you defiantly did! that was me the 1st 2 nights, Breeze & Jay the 2nd & Steve the...4th?? there's just no way we could have been putting ourselves thru that so i think we we're secretly being poisoned....I'm still looking into it though! LOL
