About me:
How do you see the world? Me? I see it in panels. Little panels that spread across the canvas of time, space, feelings, thoughts, experiences. Panels blotched with colors, dotting and cross-hatching the world that I try to squeak out my work inside. Speech bubbles with every imaginable story floating in them, and I feel like I have to reach up and grab them, pull them down, dip my pen in them, and draw comic books for all of you. But mostly for myself.
Boy, do I sound pretentious or what? I just like funny books and I want to make my own.
There are so many people that make up Drunken Cat Comics. Allow us to introduce ourselves!
Brian Canini
President, Artist, Writer
This profile is my representation on myspace. So the songs, movies, books, etc are solely my opinions and do not necessarily represent the views and opinions of Drunken Cat Comics or it's other employees. When you write Drunk Cat, you write me. Unless the cat gets to the e-mails first, in which case your replies will be about booze and hookers.
David Grant
Writer, Editor, Letterer
Check out his profile. He's my number one friend on the buddy list. Also check out his film company, number two on the buddy list. He's an @$$hole.
The Drunken Cat
He's doing the 12 step program, and has been clean and sober for seven weeks now. We're really pulling for him. Check out his journey into the life of sobriety at his myspace, number three on the buddy list.
We at Drunken Cat Comics (and Wolf In Wool Productions) live by a strict set of guidelines that help us to focus and strive toward our respective goals and not fall into sedentary lives of retail and reruns. We have all signed the contract and shame ourselves into following its guidelines and principles as much as possible.
The Artist's Contract
We the people of this union, not being the union of holy matrimony but of something equally binding yet less gay, hereby decree our time, energy, and wholehearted ambitions toward the realization of our dreams, those dreams being of artistic in nature and economic by necessity and of varying scope.
Brian Canini hereby declares his interest in creating a career in the field of comic books, professional writing, and/or commercial art and insists these professions as his key endeavor.
David Grant, having of solemn mind and body, agrees to work toward his endeavor of gaining an agent and garnishing a film career in acting, writing, or of a more intense capacity.
In the interest of these goals, Mr. Canini and Mr. Grant have come to this agreement in an effort to focus their time, energy, and talents to accomplishing what they have set out to do. In doing so, they agree to:
- Work a minimum of 2 hours per day (this may include auditions and/or conventions, etc) or complete a minimum of 5 pages of written script or 1 page of comic paneling
- Watch a maximum of 1 hour of television a day
- Watch a maximum of 2 movies a week (subtracting said times from the allotted television quota)
- Sleep only when truly tired, and without reason he should press through the sleepiness
- One day per week off, wherein the co-signers may watch as much TV and/or movies as they wish (this day is assuming that the daily goals have been met the remainder of the week)
- No liquor or drug use during working days
- When co-signer enters a relationship with a “lady”, he must limit contact with her to one to two dates a week (this is assuming daily work quota is met throughout the week)
- Assuming that all work for the day is complete, it’s party time!
..
If you feel inspired by our commitment to our craft(s), and you would like to sign "The Artist's Contract" or you want to frame a similar declaration or constitution, drop me an e-mail. I'd love to hear about your pursuits.
