About me: In the Springfield, Missouri area there are many local bands. Each of these bands adds a taste of their own style to the local music scene. As of late there have been rulings that may affect these bands and cost them shows. If you are a local band looking for an opportunity to make it big, or even become self sustaining as a band, Drury University Students In Free Enterprise has a solution for you. We are discussing bringing in representatives from record labels (both National and Indie labels), as well as band members from nationally touring bands to discuss what it takes to make it in such a competitive musical market. This project is also geared towards getting Springfield recognized for the musically talented city that it is. Efforts to do this could include a battle of the bands, (where Drury SIFE would invite label representatives to judge the bands), or a Music Festival (probably a Friday and Saturday affair) towards the end of the year. Also, we will be attempting to get one of the local radio stations to feature 1 hour of local music a week with the possibility of those songs getting mixed into the regular rotation. Lastly, this project hopes to show local music stores that carrying local music can be a profitable venture.

Hey man...sorry I ditched out. I've been stressing out about this Test. It was great seeing you. I spoke with my dean and I think SBU might pay for a couple admissions to the conference!
