I play nothing, I watch Red Sox. I bleed Red & White. I believe Tek is a catching guru who should become the Boston pitching coach upon retirement. I think Jim Rice should've been in the Hall 15 years ago. I'm excited Johnny Pesky's #6 is being retired. I asked what Clay would do this year back in the spring, and I think we have our answer--Zip. I think he'll be okay next year. Masterson-wow! Youk, Dustin, Lowry are the future, Lowell will come back and provide infield experience. Next year--Bay, Crisp, Ellsbury, left to right.
Music
I prefer songs featuring multiple instruments from at least 2 of the main musical instrument groups. That means I want real guitars and real drums in my music. No computer synthesized crap. And sampling is something you do at the salad bar even though the sign states you should not do it. Hair bands, remember them? They were gods, and to me, still maintain at least a demi-godlike status. Crue, Poison, Dokken, Cinderella, those were my favorites. Of course, the music legends--KISS, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, CSN, CSN & Y, Y by himself, Steve Earl, Little Feat, Ozzy, etc... For today's music, I'm partial to Nickleback. For a true radio experience, listen to WKIT 100.3 FM Bangor ME, www.zoneradio.com/wkit One of the few remaining locally owned/non Clear Channel radio stations. In fact, it is owned by horror master Steven King
Movies
It's been so long since I've seen a new movie, I'm not sure I could sit that long. I love Down Periscope, McHale's Navy, Gone in 60 Seconds, the 1st 2 Fast-n-Furious movies, Mean Guns featuring Ice Cube
Television
If it is not on Disney Channel or a channel under the Discovery umbrella, chances are I didn't see it. I love "Dirty Jobs" and "How Its Made". Of course, come April, it is all Boston, all the time.
And then there's this guy:
Books
Have you read the Consitution of the United States of America? Another good book is The Good Book. Right now I'm stuck reading textbooks.
Heroes
All of the men and women in uniform who have sacrificed it all so that I may still be free. Heroes don't work in towers, heroes protect those who work in towers.
I'm on the backside of 30, staring at forty like a batter seeing the Okey-Dokey from Hideki Okajima for the first time. I have a 3 yo girl who is just amazing. She uses phrases that I didn't know until I was 10 times her age. How can someone made up of my genetic material be so smart, adorable, and sassy? Oh, yeah, cause she gets all that from her mother, the love of my life, my wife. Been married 5+ years, which means (if you do the math), I was married before I had a child. And, since I'm closer to 40 than 30, I was also in my 30s when I got married. That part is only technically correct, as this is my 2nd marriage. Want some advice? Do it my way--wait to get married, and wait for marriage to have children. I know there are circumstances/situations that don't allow either of those, but if you can do it, then Just Do It.
Some further info, in case you still care: From 1990-1994 I wore the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor of the United States Marine Corps. I sat out Gulf War I in boot camp (Parris Island, the legitimate boot camp) and journalism school. I missed out on heading to Somalia because I was too good at my job at CPen. My job? Well, there were all these civilian media types who wanted escorts around the base, needed hourly updates, etc. I was one of the ones doing it. I did get to play in the flood waters when Pendleton flooded in 1993. That was pretty neat. One of the few observers of the airfield's flooding described it as ... a wall of water, about 6 feet high, I took three steps to go to the third floor, I swear ... he was at the bottom of an outside stair case having a smoke when the levee broke. Not sure if the music died or not. There was a chevy around, I think.
Every day I wake up and see the Stars and Stripes still flying;
Every day I wake up and the newsman isn't wearing a turban;
Every day I wake up with my wife beside me and my little girl in the other room;
Every day my feet touch the floor,
Every day my lungs fill with clean air,
Every day I have a roof over my head and solid walls around me,
Every day I wake up;
Those are good days.
16 years ago I took an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against ALL enemies, Foriegn and Domestic. I still recognize that oath.
In my opinion, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are two of the most scared works ever written.
The Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal. I believe 230 years after it was written, we can recognize the word "men" to mean "man(human)kind" Therefore, everyone is created equal. I agree 100% with this statement and feel that special interest groups are slowly chipping away at the very base of America's democracy.
