By day, Christopher Walker is a mild mannered D list celebrity. At night he transforms into a bass playing, groove saving, pocket protecting superhero holding down the bottom for bands like: The Walker Project, Derrick Sandersons Soul Expression, The Naked Redheads, Big Whiskey, The Whitney Barricklow Band and The Kelly Evans Trio.
Walker has been playing bass since 1985 and has developed a style that combines a fierce sense of groove with a melodic touch that, simply, sings. A totally self taught player, Walker has created his distinct sound from a dizzying array of influences such as:
Jaco Pastorious, Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, Me shell Ndegeocello, Bob Marley, Larry Graham and too many more to list.
Christophers main gig from 1990 thru 2001 was the critically acclaimed Heavy Weather. A hella rigorous touring scheduled netted over 1000 gigs with Heavy Weather on stages in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Nashville, Detroit, Washington DC, Boston, Cincinnati and a host of others. Walker has had the pleasure of sharing stages with Fishbone, Robert Walters, The Wailers, The Ohio Players, The Toasters, Merle Saunders, The Jerry Garcia Band, Jon ell Mosser and many, many more.
