Dryer was formed by Peggy Messing and Dave Maurakis, exiles from Winnipeg living in Montreal. They were called Animaltown for a while, and performed as a duo and as a 5-piece (with other members and a few lineup changes) all around Canada under that name. Some previous members who played with Dryer include: Shaun Bronstein, Bill Wellam, Joel Shane, Jon Pearce, Mike Shuhla, and Greg Macpherson ...all of whom Dave and Peggy thank a ton.
Dave and Peggy went into the studio to make a record and a year and a half later, “Out Like a Light” was finished. They have since been building the live show around the record, recruiting three more fine upstanding members to the band: Rachelle Mantha on the keyboards and backup vox, Ben Moss on acoustic guitar, and Dave Madden on bass.
If you guys ever split, DM can start a band called, 'exile from the Peg' -- and you can use the name too PM, should you find yourself fragmenting further! ... Absolutely adore the two new tracks posted up here -- great work, all around! Solid structures, writing, orchestration, performances, and production.
My only problem: WHERE ARE THE PRETTY ARTWORKS TO ADORN THE NAKED TITLES?
... looking forward to hearing the record, outside of the mp3 format.
Thanks for the add!
Hey Peg, remember back in the olden days back at the frame shop? Come visit us and leave a message, would love to hear from you!
Wow, great tunes, would love to hear more!
Hey what the fuck? You don't visit, you don't call, you don't write, you don't send me money or dirty pictures? I miss you bastards and I miss your music.
Peggy Messing who taught me photoshop and illustrator at Dawson... Fall 2001 was it??
Are you still doing design? If you're someone else, sorry and please disregard...
Anyhow, I really enjoyed you tracks, you have a great voice.
Hello Dryer!!! Your music is intense and I like it more and more! My good friend Alex (a good drummer from Montréal) told me you are amazing, he was right! Come to Europe please!!!
Take care!
